Grim fandango was in 3d???? not the grim fandango i played !

Think you misunderstand my term of 3D:

"Grim Fandango is a dark comedy neo-noir PC adventure game released by LucasArts in 1998, primarily written by Tim Schafer. It is the first adventure game by LucasArts to use 3D computer graphics overlaid on pre-rendered, static backgrounds. As with other LucasArts adventure games, the player must converse with other characters and examine, collect, and use objects correctly to solve puzzles in order to progress."

Hope that clears it up :)

I want games that would run on my PC, however trying almost anything past '99 seems to cause trouble. For example, just launched Age of Wonders 2, ran on maybe 10-20FPS. Uninstalled it instantly.

You still haven't even given us the specs of this "old PC" yet.

As mentioned would really help to get some specs on this PC, it is even more critical with computers of that era (1999-2001) as there is a HUGE difference between say a late 90s ATI Rage Pro compared to say a Geforce 3 from 2001. And I'm talking purely 1990s games here as well, the former would struggle with several 1990s games whereas the GF3 should chew through most of them.

At least you've given a good indication of titles already played so I'll throw out some new suggestions:

-Grand Theft Auto (if you have a 3dfx card it runs in 800x600 under DOS glide!) - available as a free download now too
-Screamer Rally (again supports DOS glide)
-Warcraft 2
-Motorhead (be warned this is moderately demanding for a 1998 title)
-Unreal (as suggested by others... but even more demanding than the above)

You'd run Torchlight with little issue, you might have to drop the graphic levels but I doubt it. I can run it on a 1.6ghz Intel/128MB graphics chip maxed at over 60fps, hell you'd even run Sacred 2 Fallen Angel in Notebook mode, let alone the original one. The only problem you might have is the memory, can't you grab a stick from your vacationing PC and put it in this one? Just a thought.

Eck. had no idea the underdogs were still alive...

Used to go back there in the 90's i think, or round that time.:)

The mid to back end of the 90's was the money no object pc golden era, ports non sur'us ect, so there's a huge list you could be playing.

Id suggest a search on moby games par the years, you'll itch to go back and play them all:)

Sin, forsaken, battlezone, freespace, baldurs gate, kknd, rollercoaster tycoon... ohh my!
