I dunno, Islam is the least dormant religion (having to pray 5 times a day, giving you 'rights' to demand halal meat, growing a beard etc) and therefore help to fill your day more than other religions which don't demand daily activity.

Blasphemy laws were repealed, so nothing really.
Obviously there is stuff they don't like but then Christians prefer to turn the other cheek, not plot to blow up parts of your transport system for not sucking up to them enough..

I'm not sure any religious leaders endorsed the IRA... perhaps the odd Priest did but the official line of the Catholic religion these days is generally one of non-violence

sure the people carrying out the violence perhpas identify as being part of particular religious groups (though there were also protestant IRA members)

Don't let actual facts get in the way of yours,
IRA cared more about controlling the drugs trade than religion, they could have been killing train spotters for all it mattered.

Probably more to do with the fact that UAF et al would turn up to make trouble which is why the march cost so much to police.
