EFL Cup Final Manchester United v Southampton ** Spoilers ** [26th February 2017]

That's an extreme scenario that I have never seen happen so I wouldn't be basing rules on it.

I would be basing the rule on what gives the most flexibility to the ref. I can't think when it wouldn't be beneficial to allow the ref to decide whether to stop the game immediately or play advantage when a player is to be sent of.

Wait so he was hit or wasn't?
Didn't I say already that he gets caught by an arm? He wasn't elbowed and his reaction was well ott and as per my last post, had this been a one off then you could give him the benefit of the doubt but it wasn't. He regularly goes down, screaming like a child, claiming he's been elbowed or hit when he clearly hadn't been. He's a cheat.

I'm fairly sure I've been told on here before (possibly by Baz I can't remember) that going down is fine to alert the ref to a foul.
What about going down holding your face like you just took one square on the nose from Mike Tyson when someones arm bashes your ear? :p

Feigning injury and not attempting to stay on your feet when you're being foule aren't the same thing though are they?

Redmond staying up when Lingard fouled him done him no favours did it? He goes down and Lingard gets sent off. That's not justification for him falling to the ground and holding his face then signalling to the ref that he's been elbwed though.

Does not compute.

Good call Mourinho. Rashford should be able to cause Soton some problems at the back hopefully.

Come on Shami, lets not play dumb. It's very simple. He was caught but his reaction was ott but had he not had a history of cheating then maybe you give him the benefit of the doubt.

It's all very clear baz, he was hit but he was not hit. And he's the most despicable, dastardly villain around.
