EFL Cup - Semi-Final ** Spoilers ** [10/11/25/26 January 2017]

Really? I thought Klopp was doing reasonably well overall, you just need to buy some better/more suitable players for his system. That would help at least.

This, I'm not really worried at the moment. Just*having a couple of terrible weeks at the moment.*Klopp has still only had one real transfer window, where we clearly didn't get all the players he wanted and are a massive work in progress.

The fact we are/were fighting for the title, had two(?) finals, almost reached another final and are still in the FA cup*is something I*didn't see happening so soon.

LOL @ Liverpool. At least Sky cant bombard us with cringeworthy adverts like Red Final or some garbage they come up with for the big team games.

Gerrard is back and Liverpool have gone downhill, looking forward to hearing the tripe from the ex-Liverpool pundits. Its more to do with the fact you lost to a team who you love buying players from and they've knocked you out.

We need to open the pursestrings, I am continually astonished at our reluctance to buy (especially as a supposed bigteam)

What's the point of buying a player the manager doesn't want? Haven't we seen with Rodgers that if a manager doesn't rate a player, he won't play him.

Jeez, what an incoherent post, you shaking with excitement at a Liverpool loss or something?

This, we had the money in the summer. We just didn't get*all the players we wanted for one reason or another and I don't think it was due to us not wanting to throw sensible money at them. By that I don't mean spending 100mil or a 30 mill player just because.

Another poor performance and the most disappointing thing is seemingly nothing has changed. The same tactics and formation has been used the past 7 games and it hasn't worked.

That's nonsense. The problem is not just the lack of depth to our squad but the lack of any like of like alternative to Mane.
Sorry, that's ****. The problem is we have no idea how to break down teams that park the bus then hit us on the counter. What space would Mane have had tonight? None.

We need a plan B and Klopp doesn't appear to have one so you can guarantee more teams will play like this against us in the coming months.

could still be Red final (ok Southampton are red and white):D

Over the two legs sounds like it was well deserved, the pressure Liverpool put them under in the 2nd half I really thought they would crack, but they managed to stay strong

That goal in 1st minute of extra time was classic counter - really effective

Fraser Foster's miss / save from Can was so close to going over.....

Pretty much, lets face it, the Liverpool fans would have a field day if we lost to a "lesser" team like Hull after buying half their team over the past year or so. I haven't even watched football for several weeks but I needed some excitement and Liverpool provided that.

Teams have tried parking the bus against us all season and we were cutting them apart. We've only struggled to create chances when we've not had Mane in the side. It's not just the importance of Mane himself, even though he's the only forward that gives us any width, pace and directness, but without him we have to completely change how we play. Firmino is a completely different player when he plays wide but we have little or no choice but to move him out wide because our only attacking alternatives are centre forwards.

Liverpool can be so sublime (sickening to admit that) with Mane and Coutinho playing and fit , but without those two - or like the last few matches where Coutinho has not fully recovered / match sharp etc - they are only 20 - 30% otherwise.

Firmino is another one that on the right day with Coutinho playing well, he is also unplayable, but otherwise is pretty non-existant majority of the time.

Liverpool desperately need Mane back from ACoN asap and with him and Coutinho fit will start to look like the team in the 1st half of the season

Moreno's quick and used to be a winger, we've got Ojo who's looked good in spells and Woodburn. Klopp seems happy to play the same team and the same style week in week out so if Mane really has been the catalyst to our plummeting form why not try something different until he's back?

Just read Southampton are the first team to ever reach the final without conceding a goal at all. All games against PL opposition too.

Still feel we're there more by virtue of Liverpool being crap at the moment more than us being great.

We've not played the same team or style week in week out though. He tried putting Lallana back in the front 3 so we can keep Firmino through the middle, we've tried playing a diamond in midfield to keep Firmino central and we've gone back to the system we started the season with but moving Firmino wide.

I said in the summer when a lot of people were complaining, Mane is the perfect signing for us. He gives us things that nobody in our squad gives us - his pace, power, width and directness is irreplaceable. Neither Ojo nor Woodburn offer any of those qualities and while Moreno has the pace and width, he's brain dead.

Nah, you did exactly what was required vs Liverpool and although we had great chances, you had more of them. Of course if we play to potential we likely win but you played a part in not letting us and soundly beat us twice.
