I've got some eggs that have been stored in the fridge with a best before stamp of the 3rd Dec on... are they ok to eat if I scramble them still as its only 4 days after that date?

90% (made up number) of expiry dates are completely arbitrary - I've had things go off before their expiry, and things fine to eat days/weeks after.

You sure you mean expiry date? Most things only have best before dates. One means don't eat after (likely a bit of time left for safety) and the other means it might not be as new but is almost certainly safe to eat still.

My primary school teacher told all of us to bring an egg to school to decorate and I insisted to my mum that we were supposed to take them as they were so I wrapped it up in kitchen paper a few times and cradled it to school.

The embarrassment when she blurted out in front of the whole class that I had not hard boiled it first and held it up in in front of everyone... I shall never forget. "(
