I took the daft plunge and went for the windows 10 Creators update today, hmmm, bad choice ?, maybe, that's besides the point anyway.

Anyway, now My USB 3.0 TP link Hub is showing as something I should Eject according to windows 10 creators edition and it wasn't like this before the update

I have tried deleting it from windows device manager as it shows as a problem with the usb 2.0 side of things (not usb 3.0), so I deleted the usb 2 item, rebooted the pc and all is working again  (but the same icon and false info appear as you can see).

My TP link USB 3.0 hub has always been fine until this update, and it still works fine now, but it's just having this nagging icon in the taskbar that is doing my head in and I have read on the internet multiple ways of fixing which have so far resulted in nothing fixes it, probably because people are mostly talking about fixes similar but not after the creators update.

So I am lost with this one, can anyone help please ?

I have attached two screenshots of the icon and what I am on about, they are marked as you can see in red colour, cheers guys, really hope someone can help  :)

P.s, I managed to figure out a way of removing the stupid icon for windows defender or whatever it's called from the taskbar, that was quite easy although I don't know if it's still running in background, put it this way, it was removed from registery and somewhere else which I can't remember just now, too tired, been at this all night, :( but anyways.

Does anyone have any ideas at all, I am stuck here firmly, please ?

Or if admin or mods think this thread will get better attention in another part of the forum then would you please move it, thank you :)

At it all night? Just hide the icon and forget about it.

tried that, it comes back again mate :(
I can't even hide the icon or nuffin UNLESS I am doing that wrong, could someone show me/tell me exactly how it should/could/can be hidden as I did try the only way that I know and it didn't work, unless there is another way ?

I hate windows 10, arggggggggggggggg

Does it even go away if you unplug your USB hub? A root hub isn't what you think it is.

Firstly, thank you EVH for moving the post to where you think I might get more help, cheers mate :)

Tried uninstalling it from device manager and everything which resulted in no mouse and keyboard until a system restart was done.

if you mean does it go away if I unplug the USB hub, yes the daft incorrect icon goes away but then I am left without the use of the hub obviously and all my devices that are plugged into the USB hub that I need, I think I mentioned earlier in the first post of the thread that this has only just started from a couple of days ago when I decided to try the windows 10 creators update, everything was fine before that, I know I could system restore it, but really, truly ??? surely there must be a quick fix for this man ?

Soon as I plug the hub back in again or reboot the PC it's still the same way as in the screenshot above, as I say, before the creators update it didn't do this, the hub still works fine now same as always but I can't even hide the icon or nuffin UNLESS I am doing that wrong, could someone show me/tell me exactly how it should/could/can be hidden as I did try the way that I know and it didn't work, unless there is another way ?

I also have another pain in the azz error popping up too every time I start the PC because of the creators update, but one thing at a time is easier to deal with.

Hope someone, anyone can help, anyone at all please.

You just drag tray icons up. A box will appear for you to drop it in.

@yashiro, if I do do that will it not mean that it may effect other things in the future, because if I am right from my memory, is that not the little icon that pops up when you plug in any other USB devices to let you know they are plugged in ??

It's just that it is telling me to remove my USB 3.0 hub, and this never happened before the creators update, that's all.

I ask about getting rid of the nagging Icon, but when I say that I mean why is it even doing that in the first place after that update and if I get rid of the icon doing it like the way you suggest, will that then not render the icon/app/tool or whatever its classed as, would that not then render it useless and work properly as it should do ?

I haven't got a clue, but I don't want to break something if you get what I mean.

Please let me know, thanks, or if anyone else knows the answer to the whole thing or can explain a little more about what Yashiro suggests then please feel free to let me know thanks, (just in case Yashiro isn't around I mean).

Tried what Yashiro said anyway, he you/he didn't say where to drag the icon up to
So I tried dragging it up to the top of desktop screen with my mouse, nothing happened, I tried dragging it to windows recycle bin, nothing happend, seems you can't remove an icon like that that simply, hmmmm

It isn't telling you to remove it - its giving you the option to [safely] eject it because it is somehow seeing it as a removable USB device that might malfunction if removed "hot".

Sometimes there is an option in the properties for the hardware in device manage to flag it as not removable but it is most likely the drivers are flagging it incorrectly and until there are updated drivers it might not be fixable without complex tweaks with the creators update.

:(:(:(:(:(, that's a pity man cause I have literally ironed out any of the other bugs I have found so far since the creators update was installed, so this is the only one that remains, it's a TP-Link USB 3.0 Hub, looked on their webpages but there are no drivers there for either, it should be simply plug n play as it was before this poxy creators update, damn man

who is liable for making these fixes, is it Microsoft Windows tech driver team, TP-Link or some other 3rd party ? Because if they don't even know about these issues then they will never fix them, know what I mean ?

To hide the icon open the Start Menu and type 'Select which icons appear on the taskbar', then set Windows Explorer / Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media to Off.

To be honest I'm surprised it hasn't always appeared as an option to remove on this menu. There's nothing wrong with it displaying this option.

can you detect any usb plug/un-plug events using the nirsoft usb event tool ?

Also - yes ;) just hiding the icon may not remove other effects like peridoic dpc's signalling the event, that could cause glitches on sound

hi guys, no, haven't tried the nirsoft usb event tool and wouldn't even know what to do with it either

Thing is, it's like I keep saying, this wasn't like this before the creators updates, so to me I would imagine I shouldn't be looking for faults, agreed ?
Plus the Hub works just fine too, but that stupid icon is still stuck there and it wasn't there acting like this before the creators update like I said.

So I am kinda at a loss of what the heck to do about this, the only good thing I can say is that I can see the issue is now widely reported all over the internet, so it's not just me, but waiting on whoever is responsible to fix it may as you all know either take a very long time or not even happen at all, what an idiotic bug indeed eh

oops, thanks but meant to say mate, that doesn't work, tried it, turned it off as you explained, I then rebooted the pc to check if it would still come back and be there and switch it's self back on again and yes, it did, so that didn't work sorry to say, thanks for trying to help anyway man, all help is appreciated at times like these, and I know there is nothing wrong with the icon being there, it's just that I don't like any icon on my taskbar unless I choose to have it there, that's all.
