Hi

I just received my water pump/res combo and connected it up. I've plugged the molec in and the 4 pin header into the CPU fan slot.

I can hear the pump spinning up but no water is flowing through. Am I doing something stupid? I can't see why it's not working. There is coolant in the res, a little has trickled into the tube but not much.

The system already has water in it, I only poured out the res coolant and lowest tube to fit the new pump/res. could it be pressure?

Thank you in advance. This is my first WC set up.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I drained the rest of the system and then filled it up again and it did the trick. There must have been pressure stopping the flow.

It's up and running now but the pump is noisier than I'd like. Do you know how to reduce the noise with pwm controlled pumps? I'm not planning on major over clocking.

Turn it down like you would if it was a fan, rpm settings.
Asus have fan controlling software, if you have an asus board, if not there's others.

Careful you don't set it too low as it might not pump enough.

It's the EK DDC res 140 pwm. I was quite limited in choice as it's a smallish case.

My fans are connected to the psu with 12v to 7v adapters that they came with. My mobo is an Asus Gryphon so I'll have a play around with the settings tonight to see how it's done. Fingers crossed I can quite the system down as that was one of the main things that attracted me to water cooling.

Ah ha. The pump is much quieter now. For some reason when I connected it to the CPU fan socket the pc didn't reognise any readings from it and said CPU Fan error on boot unless I ignored the CPU fan readings in bios.

Ive connected it to the CPU Fan Optional socket which also has pwm control and its made it nice and quiet.

Just need to quiet down the fans. They are connected to my PSU with 12v - 7v adapters but seem to be pretty noisey still. Is there a fan controller I can install internally that doesn't require a pci slot?

The one I'm using is the 3rd I ordered. The first leaked and was very loud, the 2nd made a clicking sound. I'll see how this one gets on but seems fine so far.

As it runs it will get rid of air bubbles inside the loop, for the first little while the air in the loop can make the pump rather loud. My DDC was pretty much silent when the air bubbles went out of it & my D5 is exactly the same.

Good to hear, thank you.

And thanks for the link. It looks a bit OTT for my needs and Ive seen a deviced called NZXT Grid+ which is out in a couple of days. 6 way fan hub which should suit my needs as im happy for all my fans to have the same speed.
