Yeah I guess the 3090 is a beast for sure haha!

That'd be good if like you say achieve the same or lower temps with lower fan speed! Look forward to seeing the results :D
Delivery expected tomorrow so we'll have a play then, shame its going to be another late one.

My last rework took me to 3am and i had work at 8am :o:o:o lol!

Haha all part of the game!

Not sure if you saw my post on the thread called 'Is it worth the hassle to water cool', but I have pretty much chosen and got everything in my basket that I want for my first custom loop build (including a O11 XL is my newly purchased 500dx won't cut it).

I have till 5pm to order to get everything tomorrow lol... do I or don't I ...hmm. It's costing more than the 3080 I pre ordered lol, and it doesn't even include a GPU block as obviously haven't got the new card yet or a second rad for it. Opted for 1 pump/reservoir, the Kinetic FLT D5 pump 240... was debating whether to get the 360 but figured it wouldn't be necessary, won't have much clearance at the bottom being the fact I'd be vertically mounting it.

Do I bite the bullet and order? lol:confused:

It's never really worth it is it, lets be honest we do this because we want a fancy pc with all the bangs and whistles and its a bonus it performs well/better and does everything you want and more.

I'd say go for it, you're only going to come back to it again and do the same thing. Don't spend too much time thinking about it, just do it and enjoy it i say. The fun part is building it, then the enjoyment comes after when you get to sit back and admire your creation.

Well done! That's the spirit haha! Now you got a full weekend of fun ahead of you and something to look forward to as well. :D

Indeed, thanks to you and your build which elicited the itch to want to do this! :D

It’ll just be the CPU that’ll be water cooled for the time being, due to the fact that the tuf oc 3080 I’ve pre ordered will know doubt be with me next year haha. I did think about ordering a block for my 1080ti but that would be wasting money. Patience!

At least I’ll get some practice in, gone for soft tubing to start with anyway, end goal will be hard tubing.

im looking forward to building mine too but havent done one in about 12 or 13 years so im also worried i;; fluff it up haha
Patience mate, all you gotta do is be very patient and take your time with it. Whatever you do, don't rush it, that's when easy mistakes happen.

Haha glad i could help im some way :D, don't know whether im good or bad influence lol.

Yeah we'd be lucky to see 3080's before christmas tbh.. i've still got a 3080 on preorder with ocuk lol! Im in the queue at 711, won't be getting it till next year i think but i got this 3090 to last me anyway so no rush. Might even see what AMD brings to the table ;)

Looks like you might need a proper project thread when you get all your bits together :D

Definitely bad influence on the bank account! haha

I may start a project thread, if I feel it's worthy enough lol :D

New Rad is awesome! temps using insurgency sandstorm as a baseline:

Old setup: GPU temp - 55c (Max spike 57c) / Fan speed 70%
New setup: GPU temp - 46c (Max spike 48c) / Fan speed 55%

The most important thing for me here is the fan speed, its so much quieter than before, im over the moon with the outcome.

Give you a feeling of the size difference between the 2 rads lol, its monstrous! I'm glad i didn't go for a 60mm thick rad though, theres literally a 5mm gap left and it probably would have touched. Only sad thing is, i don't have a vertical mount anymore. Only way to get around it is to go for the XL case which i may do in the future if i decide to build a rig for the wifey.

Fancy pics coming tomorrow, too late to do anything tonight :)

Wow I wasn’t expecting those results but then again what do I know lol. I’m genuinely impressed with that!! A massive 10c drop with a much slower fan speed, just goes to show what a thicker rad can do!

I’m sure aesthetically it still looks great going back to horizontal mount :D
