Ek screws and instruction issues...

Hi,

Firstly I just want to say my EK blocks and radiators are excellent and I have no issues having used only ek parts in my watercooling build to date.

What is a slight annoyance and I just wanted to see if others have had the same issue is either the goods come with a lack of screws, wrong screws, no screws or inaccurate instruction sheets! Love your products ek but your starting to get a reputation for me atleast a bit like certain flat pack furniture companies. ;) Small attention to detail and qa problems are failing you imo.

Its a very small issue but it can put an entire wc build on hold just for a few wrong screws!
 
Never had the wrong screws personally but agree on the whole they don't give you enough spares. I haven't found the instructions difficult though I have to be honest, manuals are all online also which is great.

Over time you'll end up with a ton of screws in a container don't worry, we all do :)
 
Instructions are not difficult. They are just plain wrong.lol

I suppose I should include what it is that I have an issue with and its the 980ti wf3 waterblock and backplate.

They mention m3 screws for the waterblock when its m2.5. Then on the backplate kit they say m2.5x6 and provide me with m3's which don't even fit through the holes on the backplate! On top of that 6mm is not long enough anyway so its all over the place.

They mean the 6mm that came with the block. I think you o ly get the 3mm with the backplate. If you buy yhe backplate without the block you get screwer over basically.
 
What i mean is the waterblock itself comes with long and short screws. Your instinct is to fit the block with the short screws. Indeed that is what the instructions for the block tell you.
When you get to the backplate, the plate instructions tell you to take out dome of the short screws you have installed with the block and replace with the longer ones. Bear in mind that some of those.long screws are longer than others and must go into partocular holes. I found that my.last long screw didnt go through the backplatw into the water block and had to swap the long ones around until i found the right screw in the right location.
 
Ignore thread length. Its thread diameter that is the main issue with the backplates not fitting. Atleast with the parts I got. Plus the fact that the only sizes you are left with out of all the screws you get are too short to go through backplate, card and block..

The two longer screws are required at the opposite end of the plate. Which is irrelevant in my case as its either right length wrong diameter or right diameter wrong length.

Its not an issue for me anyway as I have some m2.5x10's that I used.

This sounds like a similar problem that i had. Turns out the correct screws were sellotaped to the inside of the boxes bottom opening lid. Had me sweating for an hour!!!

I found the screws ok in the compartment they were just the wrong ones in this instance. I quite like the way they design the packing on the backplates so that the screws have their own little compartment and marked with "open this side for screws."
 
That doesn't sound good.

I've hardly ever had problems with EK blocks, although one I fitted recently did omit four screws from the list of screws that needed to be removed to take the existing cooler off the board. It's no fun trying to pull a heatsink off when it's still screwed on.

As for the supplied screws I usually have the opposite problem. This is what's left over from fitting water blocks and backplates to four Titan X Pascals:

Great, was just a thought. It confused me because the instruction to where the screws could be found was slightly creased, with it being so small and the bottom of the packaging. So slightly hidden. But i definitely should have stopped, breathed and took my time to inspect more thoroughly!
