Elder Scrolls MMO

It makes sense to do it, but is it a little too ambitious? What works for EVE may not work for what is undoubtedly going to be the biggest MMO releases of the last decade. I mean, Can you imagine the server lag? Not too mention problems with respawn rates and the like.

I'm not being cynical here I dont think. Look at the fiasco blizzard had with the servers upon D3s release with there zoned servers... Not too mention Bethesdas notorioius reputation for releasing horrifically buggy (in that kinda cute way) games.

Don't disagree with your post, but I was under the impression that it wasn't actually Bethesda who were making this??

oh dear, confirmation that TESO is going to be fully voiced from the recent ask us anything here

Full voice acting. As if people weren’t drawing enough comparisons between TESO and Star Wars: The Old Republic, now there’s this. BTW, TESO‘s still not using the HERO Engine.

Automatically sorted inventory, similar to what’s seen in Skyrim and Oblivion. Hallelujah. Why more MMOs don’t take this tack, I’ll never know. In addition to sorting based on type, like armor or weapon, more options will be available, such as sorting by value or when acquired.

Light-armor tanks. While ZeniMax says you’d rather use heavy armor in close-quarters fighting, the option is apparently there “to increase your health to the max and carefully choose your abilities” and create “a light armor character that would last a good, long time on the front lines.”

Narrowly specialized characters. While the skill system would seem to reward hybridization, there should be plenty of options for people wanting to specialize along a single track, such as exclusively being a healer.

Equipping weapons. The Q&A confirms that a system will be in place similar to Skyrim‘s, where you can equip weapons, spells, and shields on a per-hand basis, and you’ll also be able to easily switch between builds — something the single-player games have generally lacked.

Moral choices. While not as black-and-white as, say, choosing to represent the Light or Dark Side in SWTOR, there will be some “tough choices” your character will have to address which might range from having a minor effect on the story to having “lasting consequences.”

U mad bro?

I might be getting confused, but I'm sure I saw an interview with a dev posted within the ESO thread on Rerolled where they talked about the game world size and it was mentioned it was in comparison to Daggerfall.

Lots of MMO projects have talked up the "size" of their world. Ultimately, it's all marketing.

Creating - and crucially populating - a virtual world the size of GB would require decades of work. You could do it if it was mostly empty space, but what would be the point?

And like the real world, people would want fast travel from one place to another, negating much of the point of having a world that big!

You think it's a bad thing?

I think TOR did a lot of things right, it just didn't gel together as well as it should have.

Having full voice acting makes it much harder to modify things. Once the voice acting is done, you're kind of stuck with what you've got, even if you wanted to improve it you can't, without booking more time in the recording studio.

MMOs aren't like books, where once they're published that's it. An MMO has to change, sometimes a lot, and voice acting creates a barrier to change.

I would also argue that since many players now (regrettably) skip all quest text, etc, full voice acting is a bit of a waste of your budget.

Wish they went Co-op rather then mmo, I would love to play this with three friends aka secret of mana style. Each of us with different classes skills, helping each other gear up and taking on bad-ass bosses in bad-ass caves lol

have loved and played to death all of the Elder scrolls games, but won't play this when it comes out, have no interest with online what so ever, will add nothing to me other than kids running around, level 100 real people who spends vast sums online just because they can, single player only for me, never liked or stayed with any MMO as yet, for me that after a few hours, got bored to death too quick and left, never to return

Massive elder scrolls fan so I welcome this whether it's going to be bad or not. Being out of the MMO loop for a while, I think I'll enjoy this very much. Hopefully I get picked for BETA testing, very excited indeed!

I still have holiday day's un-booked! So I will spend vast amounts of time playing. :p
