Elder Scrolls of Oblivion

It's down the the variation of the game tbh. You could spend 100+ hours on one char, the moment you start another, game is drastically different in gameplay.

So true, on the PC I was a sword wielding knight with heavy armor, now I play a Wood Elf bowman with heavy sneak/stealth, started the Dark Brotherhood straight away and the perks you get fit the sneaky archer very well.

FYI the Console version is a goty edition and comes with all the expansions for c. £10.. and unlike the Steam version the OP can sell it on afterwards.

At least it is moddable on PC.

But nonetheless it's on console.

Get the GOTY Edition and play away, I really enjoyed it! Blown away by the graphics those years ago. :D

i have it for the xbox 360 and it took 60+ hours just to complete the main quest, had to creat another character for side quests as in my main one im a vampire and it sucks while doing side quests!! :D

What would be best to get it on, Xbox or PS3?

Is there any noticeable differences like the lag issues in F3 on the PS3 for example.
The PS3 version is the one to get, it was released 4 months later and has sharper textures in the distance and better loading times when walking in the wasteland as it installs >5GB on the harddrive.
Kinda strange to say the PS3 version is better than the 360 version but it does happen once in a while :p

Oblivion's visual and audio muscles are just as notable as its warfare. Among the best looking PlayStation 3 titles released thus far and a step up compared to the Xbox 360 version, The Elder Scrolls IV shows off what time and fine-tuning can really do. The environments are awesome with wild animals and other creatures moving about in every outdoor location type you can think of. The lighting effects too, are nicely done and most village, equipment, and dungeon types have a look unique to their locality or background. Granted, the facial features and lip-synching are a little "off" and there are frequent pop-in problems with the occasional framerate stutter, but for the most part, everything looks great.

Multiplatform users who have been holding out in hopes of getting the "best looking version" should still gravitate towards a pumped-up PC. But, as I mentioned earlier, the PS3 version of Oblivion is a definite technical improvement over the 360 edition. Even if you have the latest Xbox patch installed, this newest port holds an advantage with its quicker loading times (which are almost twice as fast as the 360's), fewer framerate hitches, sharper textures, a better draw distance, and a brighter overall picture. Audibly, you're getting the same game -- which, for those of you who are new to the game, is stacked with an excellent ambient soundtrack and strong voice acting.

The Xbox 360 version got a patch that improved the shaders and LOD on textures to bring it up to the PS3's level.

The Xbox 360 got patched, you can now install it plus it got the visuals upgrade as well.

The game has ana amazing orchestrated soundtrack as well, very atmospheric and fantasy like.

Its an AMAZING game! Watched a mate play it over christmas then ended up buying it my self a week later on my pc (so we could both play it at the same time...)

After comparing the 3 (both consoles and pc) the pc version was run away faster to load (even on my old 5200rpm laptop hard drive) which made the experience loads more fun, and you could go overboard and ram the graphics up to the max which looked good! Ps3 was the second best from what I remember either way...

And yes a tenner is more than worth while for this!

I see, nice addition to an already great game then.

One thing I never really figured out is regarding the skill trainers, is it a good idea to pay for skill training or will it only lead to faster levelups?

Got it! Was £15 brand new, only played it about a couple of hours so far through the first part (dark tunnel full of rats + escorting emperor), making an Archer although the bow has a really short range on arrows, I assume this is upgraded later on right? lol

Really good game thou, don't regret buying it, wish I got it sooner :D.

No, make sure you wait until the bowstring is fully tensioned all the way and aim a little higher.
Also you do not need headshots, you just need to hit any part of the body for the same amount of damage.
