electric shocks..

why not ? if it was a partial short the other people would surely get shocks too ?

it sounds like hes oddly static to me
t

Or the other people are "insulated" from earth somehow by socks/footwear etc?

Get it checked. We dont want to find you on the news....

unplug one of the appliances for a day and see if you get shocked?

if you do = static

if you don't = you're going to die in an electrical fire :)

If you unplug the appliance it will no longer be earthed though, and a static shock is less likely to occur. What you need to do is switch the appliance off at the socket but leave it plugged in.

My best man suffered from this but he also used to destroy electrical equipment just by touching it.
He had BBC, Commodore and Atari ST computers and broke them all by just touching them and it was only when PC's came out with seperate keyboards he was able to use on properly.
I haven't seen him for 20 years so I can't ask what he does about it still.

The fact he's said he's only getting shocked off electrical appliances points to it being an electrical fault rather than static.

Well... Ive had shocks off other things too.. Just those are the most common.. I have had shocks off a car, the metal tray on a drinks vending machine, as above i have zapped people when i touch them.. Going to have the electrics looked at anyways I think :)

We get shocked to hell and back in the Server room. It's a pain in the ass.

PC Cases, Door handles and Steel cabinets. Always getting a belt.

I've been told it's because of the laminate flooring. But I've got to the point now where I touch things with my first before my fingers. Dunno why, Feels better

If your pretty sure its not static get your electrical earth checked, its possible it could be accumulative earth leakage from all your appliances.

*Edit - Removed stupid advice* Definately get your earth checked.
