Electric hobs (certainly modern ones) are by no means terrible though. We've always had electric at home and can cook everything just fine.
However I would like a gas cooker as it is better for things like stirfry and I'd also be able to use large 'hot plates' for frying on which just opens up more options for ways to cook.
Thats what the Chinese takeaway is for! Currently stuck with leccy oven + hob. Dont mind having an electric oven but as mentioned numerous times in the thread the hob can be a nightmare to get "right" and when using more than one hob finding the space for a pan on the worktop so the stuff doesn't continue to cook is not ideal.
