Got a serious problem here. My microwave (900W, quite a powerful one) interferes with my wireless network so I'm unable go on the forums for a whole 10 minutes  when I'm cooking my dinner.

So does anyone know how I might be able to stop this? Is there some way I could shield it using foil or something else I might be able to find around the house?

Move the microwave or the wireless equipment further away from each other really. I wouldn't cover it in tinfoil or shield it.

Stop eating pre made food and cook something in the kitchen and not microwave ready to eat meal, Get yourself another MW, or move your router to another part of the house. :D :)

I'm afraid a pot noodle is your only other option, supports the Welsh mining community too, or so I'm led to believe :p

Ok so the general consensus is tough titties. They aren't anywhere near each other so there's nowhere I could move it to that would help. I'm not going to start cooking real food :p and as much as I'd like a wired network, my parents don't like the idea of wires going all around the house.

Its not his Network as such, its his wireless side. Wireless 802.xx works at 2.4Ghz, the same frequency that food gets cooked at in a microwave.....bet you'd wished you'd kept that laptop off your nuts now dont ya!!!!

Thats why it intereferes with your nextwork, theres not a lot you can do apart from increase the distance from MW and Wireless equipment

Your parents sound like mine :) The only single room in this house that has visible wires is my room (the computer), every other room has everything completely hidden where absolutely possible.

I have never noticed any problems on my wireless network when using the microwave. I've even had the laptop in the kitchen next to the microwave once when I was boosting my food and my music stream didn't die. We have a 800w microwave.

What router do you have?

Microwaves operate near 3ghz, don't they?

I would recommend building a faraday cage around the microwave. Some wiremesh might do the trick.
