ELEX 2 - Comming Soon

I did'nt mean to play it, just look at the options before bed, but 3 hours later I had to force myself to quit. I'll finish DL2 first, then get back to this. Eldon Ring, the most soulless souls, can wait!

Long live eurojank!

Fun review. It is a PB game. People who play PB games know what to expect.

Currently on the last chapter of this game, and this assessment is definitely right! :D

I've always been a fan of PB games despite their all-too-often glaring flaws. I kind of like that they are/were a studio whose reach exceeds their grasp. I've been into their games since Gothic 3, (which I thought was great with (and only with!) the community patch, and they all seem to have the same basic structure (and issues). Several competing factions who you work with and eventually choose one to join; different faction-aligned approaches to the main story goals; being unable to defeat a sick rat at the beginning and trying to slowly build your way to becoming a demi-god; big open worlds with lots of loot, secrets, hidden side quests.

And as usual, there are glaring hitbox issues galore, buggy quest updates and companion behaviour, weird very shallow-then very steep player power curve, janky animations and character behaviour.

They do have a way of pulling me in, though. The last bit of Elex II has become a bit of a slog, but I liked the journey to becoming a Beserker fire mage. The jet pack is nicely implemented here, and I have very much appreciated being able to yeet myself to various comedy deaths with the sprint boosters.

So, I was quite saddened to hear that PB seemed to died out recently. I'll miss their ambitious but unevenly implemented open world games.
