Elite Dangerous vr

Definitely recommend the Quest 2; you can play wirelessly with your PC and hook up to a socket if you need juice while you play.

Are you able to get this working with Air Link? There's something badly wrong with Elite for me in the Oculus app, it won't start using Virtual Desktop as it complains there's no headset, it will start with Air Link but then I'm told to log in via the launcher on the PC, only there is no launcher.

I use it with airlink and VD without any issues. I start the game from within steam VR.

100 people working on odyssey for two years and more and all they managed was to downgrade what was already there and tack on a poor fps module, it's either laugh or cry lmao :D

oh its definitely cry, such a shame to see a game with this potential and legacy be treated like some skunk works side of desk project. This is reputation damage territory for Frontier... they want the $$$ but can't give rats a** about the quality at least as an organisation (not blaming any individual that's not fair)

Thanks, that's my problem I suspect, I need to install it via Steam. In the olden days, when I had a Rift I always saw it recommended to install on the Oculus app rather than Steam.

I'm a Q2 user. I've played via Oculus + VD and Steam+VD and recently put together an OpenXR + VD start up. This last one is appears to be stubatantially quicker than the other two, Steam is next best.

That thread for OpenXR is in the VR sub-forum over at Frontiers forums and, unlike some of the other sub-forums over there, they know what they are doing and they're friendly.

Note that you can kick off E: D with a /vr flag.

mines something like 6000 mah, but as it's part of the strap balances the weight of the q2 nicely. Dogfighting and entering a station are the best reasons for getting VR in the first place :)

I'm tempted to bring Elite back out of retirement just to try it again in VR now I have a headset, see if the eye-candy makes the game any better...

It's worth it just to start the game and look at the ship in the hanger. You just don't realise the scale of things. It's a definite wow moment!!

Its a few years since I played. Haven't played at all since I got the Q3. I recently updated my PC to a 4070/5700X3d which should make the visuals a lot better that when I was on a 2060. But its that big old learning curve to get back to where I was that is putting me off. It's a very detailed "simulation"

Even tho FD have let VR support rot on the vine with the new content not running in VR,.elite is.still one of the flagship VR.titles imo. what it does well it's does really well. I have spent 1000s of hrs over 5 different headsets.in the game.

it's both amazing and depressing at the same time (both for Elite Dangerous and also the state of PCVR in general)
