Exactly - you can see properly, not the jaded view that strange self-absorbed teenagers have - and see that it's much ado about nothing :)

How can there have been this many replies and still Jimmy Eat World have not been mentioned.

Jimmy Eat World may not have started Emo, but they are certainly regarded as one of the biggest Emo bands around.

Nick

beat ya by a minute. :D

Dashboard Confessional - same category as McFly
Death Cab For Cutie - Coldplay, Travis
Jimmy Eat World - ooh they're interesting and very commercial. Can't compare them to anybody at the moment.

I've just done a bit of listening and I don't mind making myself look a right ****.
These are the views of a very old rocker and to be taken as such.

Wednesday 13th - Couldn't find any but I remember this band dress up daft
Hawthorne Heights - modern punk like Green Day
Fallout Boy - Modern punk
Funeral for a Friend - Modern punk
My Chemical Romance - Modern punk with some trimmings
AFI - modern punk with some thrashy overtones
As I Lay Dying - My kind of metal (Slayer, the Haunted etc)
Alexisonfire - modern punk with a bit of thrash
Panic!!11!1!! At the disco - Is this McFly?

So now I'm really confused because if these are EMO bands then they take in all kinds of rock music.

its more the "Scene" that revolves around it - and emo is "emotional punk" so its going to be punky :p

Anyone that tells me "you can't label me" is instantly a scenester to me :|

Either;

a) you're trolling people
b) you have, quite literally, no clue. Proof? Well, i'm assuming that 'Wednesday 13th' is relating to 'Wednesday 13'?

If so, how is he emo?

Name-dropping bands doesn't make you cool. Especially when you don't know what you're talking about.

Sorry, my Emo band list wasn't exactly definitive, but I listed emo bands and bands typically associated with emo bands. I'd generally say all the bands I listed are ****.Ah, it will be Wednesday 13 then, apologies, I just knew it was some ****** band that my sister listened to.

I just dislike bands that become popular because they fit in with 'the scene', not because they have musical talent.

Don't swear! FF.

Sorry for the swearies :o

I don't see how coheed is emo. Every album is a concept album and a story about space and all sorts. But then again, hardly any band I see mentioned here really seems emo to me :/

edit: to the guy above, you might wanna remove your swearie...

As I lay dying are ******* awesome and definately talented...

Some of that music is good. The problem is that you or me would feel a right **** if we went to the gigs of such bands.

You'd be there with your shiny head and shorts, I'd be there with my enormous sideburns; and we'd be surrounded by a legion of scrawny teenagers with assymetric fringes, black eye-liner, and moody pretentious ways.

We'd be standing there loving the music but the Emo kids could really have something to moan about seeing that sight. Razorblades all around.

There are two Emo bands that I like, Funeral for a Friend and Finch however I don't really have many other Emo bands in my collection.

I think of Emo as Punk music with emotional lyrics and melody...simple as that.

All these kids dressing up and saying they are Emo is just some stupid fashion craze.

Don't they often have their hair across one side of their face, so it covers their eye in some cases? Must make depth perception awkward :p . I have no strong opinions toward them otherwise.

Yes but emos are all so shallow they dont need depth perception.
