Settings-wise I have everything on Ultra, except for Shadows which I have set on low. I play all the naval battles as well as the land battles because I hate autoresolving so I play every battle :)
 
Having just checked my settings are on medium which i wouldn't have thought they should be with my card will try altering them to ultra maybe it is as simple as that here's hoping nothing to lose but five mins as i can replicate a ctd at anytime.

I wish it was, but sadly from all the threads I have read it appears that the settings are just as random in relation to CTDs as everything else. I've seen people with low who havent CTD and people who have, people on Ultra who havent and people who have.
 
Yeah made no diff whatsoever soon as i clicked to declare war bang ctd. Sod it better things to do with my time then try and figure this out. Oh well maybe in a couple of months time will try it again.

Yeah I would recommend waiting for those people who are having troubles, its so weird that you'll just be banging your head against a brick wall. If I do manage to come up with some explanation as to why I am not having any troubles I will post it here in case it helps someone else.
 
This is a shame, as I loved all prior incarnations of Total War.

The latest patch has totally knackered it, I am getting insufficient video mem. errors, random AI turn CTD's, corrupt saves, massive selection delays etc.
Have tried mods, unoffical .exe patches and all display combinations. Nothing works.
The only joy I am getting is with the multiplayer.
 
Had to format and re-install yesterday - installed this again and set all my graphical options to the same as before.

Now I have heavy glitching on shadows, and sometimes units?

wtf
 
Oh great. CA have no broken the game unless i play with no SFX.

This is shoddy.

Also my performance is fine until those iroquois are in a battle, then it just plummets.

After going through this with med2 when that came out i decided i wouldn't waste much time trying to get this to work if it didn't and will simply bin it till quite a few patches have been released.

I just wish they would enable you to play and patch the game without the interfering steam as once that applies a bad patch your weither stuck with it or have to wait till they release another patch. Much prefer the traditional system where you donwload each patch and install it yourself thus being able to roll back one patch if it does more damage then good.

All in all for me and for everyone i know this game had such prmose and yet again from CA has proved to be completely annoying. Next time they release a total war game i will do the only thing we as customers can do not buy their game and wait for longtime until it's a fiver or something but they will not rip me off again.

This is unfortunatly the same situation i'm in. I have got into CoH again so i can have my strat fix. Its a shame but then there was always a feeling this game was being rushed considering the first delay they posted.

My thinking is why none of the reviers got the buggy game i got....
 
Reviewers always give CA games very good marks no matter what the reality is hence why i no longer pay any attention to game review sites for pc way too much cash flowing behind the scenes now for a real impartial review.
 
Im totally sick of this game, I havent had a good run of game play with it in 2 weeks I've had it, just keeps crashing with the video ram message and the shadows are glitchy.

Its annoying when you pay good money for a product and it doesnt work as promised, would be nice if they would compensate you for the hassles.
 
This is why it must be hard to program for all the millions of variations of PC's out there.

I'm another one who currently has zero problems with this game, not one CTD since install.
 
I haven't played on this since the most recent patch came out. Before the patch the only problem I was having was quite big delays when selecting ports, sometimes up to 20 seconds. I'm going to go on it again tonight and am hoping that problem will have been fixed and no new ones added! Might try some of the mods later on too, sounds like they make the game more difficult as I find it far too easy at the moment.
