**EMPIRE TOTAL WAR**

IGN = Muck. Among the worst of the gaming sites. Eurogamer is best imo, followed closely by Firingsquad and Gamespot UK.

Looks promising for Empire though. :D

EDIT - The Eurogamer review is up, 9/10! http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/empire-total-war-review

AI is apparently massively improved though some routing issues do exist specially in siege battles. Can't wait for the mods. :D

ign is regarded by almost everyone as the best source for video games reviews. eurogamer is ok but very inconsistent some times. gamespot lost all its reliability last year when most of the good reviewers left because of the kane and lynch fiasco.

Something I found strange was that my line infantry if put in two rows the front row would not kneel down, so only the front row could fire. But I saw on a video over at IGN called tactics 2 or something that his line infantry, arranged in two rows of men, the front would kneel and the second row would fire at the same time as the first.

Maybe its a unit specific ability or a researched tactic.

I should think its a researched tactic as historically in the early days of rifles that tactic hadnt yet been learned, only coming later as lessons were learned from the early use of rifles in battles.

You have to be insane.

Nearly all internet gaming review sites are paid to give good reviews.

Only thing left that are impartial is Metacritic and Zero punctuation.

a review site that doesnt write reviews? cool, i'll open one as well

Well you already have a site, you listen to IGN like its the bible. And there reviews are empty at best.

Gotta love the video review the guy does of this game.

"there are some flaws, but there not important"

Excellent reviewing there.

can you explain the kane and lynch fiasco ?

Ok, I got it the wrong way round.

The game publishers took offence at the bad review and pulled advertising from the site. They fired the reviewer to try and stop losing out on the advertising money.
Giving fears that their reviews would not be fair but have a bias due to game publisher pressure.

Didnt they edit the final score as well? upped it by about 1 if I remember.

i dont even care what ign says or any other website says if i like game. they got more credibility than random forum users though. every game has flaws as nothing is perfect as long as they dont break the gameplay they might not be important.

anyway i'm not going to start arguing with a guy that really believes that all reviewers are getting bribed for positive reviews  i've seen endless of overhyped games flop really bad.
