Personally I find it irritating and it annoys me when I see people do it. On another forum I frequent, its a suspend/bannable offence and I think that's a marvelous idea. It's just a waste of space and pads out threads unnecessarily.

If you don't know what I'm referring to, here's an example...

I find it irritating when people quote the post directly above their own, unless it is a particularly long and wide-ranging one with a specific portion quoted.
I don't think that's so bad, because 9/10 times by the time you've finished typing your reply, a post or two would've appeared after the one you've quoted.

/edit: point demonstrated exactly :D

Doesn't bother me at all. I think it is rather petty to be bothered by something that is done for a reason like that.
I know what you mean but I see it in nearly every thread and it doesn't really add anything useful to the thread in question :/

Would you feel better about it if they included the words 'I agree' in their post?
Somewhat yes, but in my opinion (and it is just an opinion), there isn't really much point in making a post at all unless you actually have something you want to contribute. But maybe that's just me :p

Personally i like knowing that other members feel/think/agree with what i say. There is also the confirmation of advice by seeing numerous Agree type posts on a question asked. If 3 people on here that i know Quote/Agree on something i am happy to listen/take that advice/learn more about the subject etc.
Yeah, I see what you mean... well I guess that's that then, general consensus of this thread seems to be everyone thinks empty quoting is good... fair do's :p

lol, there's a thin line between "being ironic" and "being a knob". I believe *just maybe* some people may have crossed it ;)
