Hi all,

I have set up a friends system on 2x 500gb raid0 Vista 64bit.

He wants to back up his old files from an IDE HD (that computer broke).
I've tried putting this IDE HD as Slave (with jumper out for slave and slave on the ribbon). I've also tried putting the IDE HD as Master (again with correct jumper and ribbon bit).

Each time the HD does not show in My Computer. OR in Disk management (right clicking My computer/ manage / disk management)

Is this HD broken or am i doing something wrong :S. Thx in advance

System setup:

Q6600
4x 1gb ram
Abit Ip35 Pro
2 x 500 Samsung spinpoints in raid 0
vista 64bit

Are you sure that the IDE controller is enabled in your BIOS?

Are the JMicron controller drivers loaded correctly?

Is the IDE controller itself showing in Device Manager?

Is the IDE drive spinning up when you power on the PC?

if my Raid 0 is the first boot. would it matter which IDE Cable i have the drive on? Master / Slave?!? or does it not make a difference?

Gonna check the IDE controller now, as i think it may not be enabled. I seem to remember the boot priority page only showing the Raid0 and add-in cards.

The master/slave settings only affect how two drives interact on a single IDE cable, the rest of the disk config is irrelevant. If there is only one device on the cable then it needs to be master.
