Encrypt/Password protect windows backup drive

Hey guys,

I have an external hard drive which I use to back up two computers via windows backup. What is the quickest/best way to either encrypt all of its contents or password protect the drive?

Will this affect the windows backup function?

You could do it two ways.
1. You could password protect the image file, whilst creating the backup, maybe use "Acronis True Image" or similar, if Windows Backup doesn't allow you to password protect the file.

2. Or you could encrypt the entire backup drive (or partitions) with "TrueCrypt", which is free.
You can then hide the drive and you'll need to enter a password to access it again.
TrueCrypt can all encrypt your C: drive, so you would need to enter a password to start Windows. That's useful for laptops which might get lost or stolen.
