Endless Space seems to have it all. A compelling story, which features an ancient super civilization, several factions to choose from, a big emphasis on discovery (powerful artifacts left from precursors), luxuries and strategic resources management, a tech-tree system, trade, diplomacy, state-of-the-art graphics, modular spaceship design, customized civilizations setup, an innovative and dynamic simultaneous turn-based gameplay, multiplayer, different victory conditions, an hero-character system with unique ability trees and specializations… Check here for all about the features and all other game info. Yeah, this is on my list of games to follow. I just saw that video somewhere else in the last day or two; can't remember where though.

The game offers a superb UI. Functional, appealing, accessible. And while transitions from UI screens are flawless, the game performance (particularly turns) still leaves a bit to be desired. After setting up a medium-sized map with 8 AI players, turns were taking a bit too long to process. You need to have a look at this one guys.


It’s naturally too soon to have a definitive take on things and I feel that I only just scratched the surface. But, if we add up the quality the game already shows with the amount of polishing and tweaking it will suffer at the hands of the player’s feedback, Endless Space can only become a great game.


Now, or when it’s finished, there’s no doubt in my mind that this game will be a must for the veteran 4X gamer. And depending on the final state of the game (although it sure is looking promising!) it may also be, perhaps, the perfect game to introduce new people to the genre. Well done Amplitude! You game has surely lived up to the expectations. Now, please continue your great work!

I'm ****ing dying to get this but I'm going to hold out for a different platform, preferably Desura. Not sure how long I can hold out though; I've been following Endless Space for ages and it looks stunning. :)
 
Looks great!

I've been playing loads of GalCiv II, SoaSE recently, this looks like another great game.

Think I may need to upgrade my machine at some point this summer then by the looks of it.
 
Posting to bookmark this thread, love 4X, not found anything to better Distant Worlds yet.
 
Just watched the video thanks vader. I havent followed this until i seen this thread. It does look really good, theres still some improvements needed. But its only the alpha phase and by the looks of things it will all be sorted out by release.
I really like sons of a solar empire, but its a bit easy and basic, this game though looks more indepth and tactical without being complicated.

Also checkout Legends Of Pegusus if you like this 4x space games;)
 
anyone pre-ordered from steam ? says you get immediate access to the *alpha* for £17 or £20... quite tempted !
