Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

all they do is use your historical smart meter data and apply the tariff rates to them.

What they can’t do is consider how you will change your behaviour based on different time of use options.

You are probably still better off on Go, the flux day export rate is lower and the import rate is higher.

Flux makes sense if you export loads in the flux export period in late afternoon/early evening to make up for the additional import costs overnight.

If you have an EV and drive it, I can’t see flux being beneficial at all.

The sunshine will drop back later this week also.
I realise they just use the historical data, but I wondered how last year usage and export would compare using current tariffs and whether there was an app or site that could do it

I don't usually force export and don't have an EV.

I wasn't planning on switching now/soon, just thinking ahead.

The point still stands, the way you would change your behaviour on Flux vs GO would be different which makes the compare tools next to useless.

I'd suggest watching this:

and this:

Currently paying £181 a month as I just pay for what I use.

Here’s the tariff offered, octopus 14M fixed.

Looking online, the cheapest I can see is EDF @ £1,303 a year fixed for 14M but a £50 exit fee.

Is it worth fixing or moving? Or just staying the same, pay for what I use?

@Captain I decided to risk a 18 month tariff with £50 per fuel exit as I don't think there will be a significant drop in that time. If there is then I would be happy to take the hit against longer term savings.

Have finally managed to push more of our energy usage (433kWh) to the night tariff vs the rest (410kWh). Always amazing to see the price breakdown of £27 vs £99! Have also halved our gas usage shifting most of our heating to the heat pumps and most of that into the night tariff. Result.

This will be the first month of commuting with two EVs, so will likely see the night tariff bumped up more.
