Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

I'm in the same situation (although around £15 for the full month of supply across gas and electricity).

I wonder if the Government have screwed up with a price cap AND a £400 credit for all users? I guess we'll see what happens over winter.

For a big family I guess it's a good amount

But just a couple of people or a single occupant thier bills are going to be fairly low over winter.

£66 is a 1/3 or my bill September. But likely to be 1/6 in the winter. Heating is still off as it's still very mild

Maybe pass it on to someone that actually needs it then? Must be plenty here struggling.

Money saved will just be used to subsidise Winter heating, no mains gas here out in the sticks.
Only real options are Oil/Propane/coal/wood.

Possibly they'll apply the credit to your account when they issue your refund. £66 out, £66 in.

If you pay by Direct Debit

You’ll receive your discount straight into your bank account as a refund 3-5 days after your Direct Debit has cleared. This means you’ll carry on paying your full Direct Debit amount. Once the Direct Debit payment has gone through, we’ll automatically refund the monthly discount amount to your bank account shortly after.

No credit or bills from British Gas yet either. On variable DD.
As witth LabR@t, possibly they'll apply the credit to your account when they issue your refund. £66 out, £66 in.

We'll send the money straight to your bank each month – like a refund – once your Direct Debit has gone through. If your monthly Direct Debit payment is lower than the monthly discount value, the remaining balance will be applied to your energy account.

My Octopus account has updated.
Shows a balance of -£10.95. I thought these payments due were for October's usage onwards.
For most people their monthly payments aren't related to actual use in a particular month. As long you get £400 over the next six months the precise timing is pretty immaterial.

Octopus have added the £66 to my account. So now £966 in credit ...

Only seems my bills coming down by £66 per month. Will see what happens when I submit October's readings.

Does anyone know how the cap for business rates is actually meant to work? The information on our providers website is pretty unclear. If it’s just a difference from current wholesale rate to £0.21 wholesale .. there’s no discount at all?

Just got first bill through - £1.30 / kWh .. lovely

Octopus has credited my account for both of our properties. I was thinking it may be 1 property per account, but guess not.

my DD went in on Monday and my usage for this month initially showed as +xx rather than - which accounted for the additional £66, yesterday this was displayed on a separate line to show it was paid out and today it hit my account, 3 days post my dd to them

Yeah I did read through that before. But it’s the wholesale price that’s fixed, not the price the energy companies are allowed to sell at, so it’s not straight forward like the domestic cap

I guess I’ll know more in a month when the next bill arrives

Assuming you're eligible for asistance, and your supplier's whole sale cost to you is being capped at £211/MWh (21.1p/KWh), you wouldn't expect to be paying £1.30/KWh.
