Energy Suppliers

Then you will be without energy as all suppliers perform credit checks, its the depth of the check that makes the difference (Hard check or soft check), most are soft checks and they have very little impact on your credit file, the same as searching for car insurance or a new current account without an overdraft. Hard checks stay on your file for 3-5 years after they have been closed.

British Gas were the only supplier to add an account to my credit files that remains for 6 years after I've switched away. No other supplier I've used has done that.

Sky news reporting Bulb could collapse early next week, no wonder they want me to put my DD up to £100 from £38.

Just had notification from work (EDF) to expect Bulb to fold over the weekend. It's a massive hit for the supply industry, with 1.7million customers they will be the largest supplier to fold, nearly bigger than the previous 14 suppliers combined that closed since August!

What happens if they go under? Do we all get moved onto a new company or do we have to search ourselves?

As above, nothing will happen to your supply but the company you pay will change, you will be notified it takes time, lots if time. So if they do fold, just wait for the contact from your new supplier.

Perhaps not, Bulb is considered too large for the supplier of last resort process, they have a new process called Special administrative regime which will see the treasury funding Bulb while they seek a restructuring deal or sale of the company, if that fails they will then move the customers to a new supplier.

SAR is not new, it's how the bank's got bailed out

Still got no account number for Eon Next. Then a few days ago, a DD titled Igloo Energy came out. No final bill and account is £216 in credit. Probably £200 by the time final bill is calculated to 2/10, as took reading 20/9. Cancelled DD as that usually triggers things, but nothing.

Trying to speak to one of Eon Next’s ‘energy specialists’ (hate call centre workers given stupid names like this). Awful hold music….

When Igloo folded we cancelled our DD too we’ve not heard much either

Moving house next week, was going to go with Bulb again, but seeing the current news that may not happen by the looks of it. Will have to look into some other options.
