Energy Suppliers

SO Energy are absolutely brilliant although due to getting an electric car soon I’m in the process of switching to Octopus

beware of outfoxthemarket, check the reviews and Facebook page

I haven’t been with the big named companies for years and saved an absolute fortune

You don’t lose any credit balance if a supplier goes bust, there’s very little risk. The regulator just moves you to a new supplier along with your credit balance, your then free to move to whoever.

Having a bit of trouble getting smart meters installed with Octopus. I first requested an install in October. "Provider", the business who does the installs on behalf of Octopus, didn't bother showing up for the first appointment in December. It was rescheduled for January. Chap turns up, installs the meters, but couldn't activate them because the servers were down. Told me someone would be in touch to arrange an appointment for activation. After two week, I'd heard nothing, so I phoned Octopus. Was told the engineering dept would phone me back to arrange a new appointment. They did, but that took another two weeks. New appointment booked for 6th March. Got an email today from Provider to say they can't make the appointment now, and I need to call them to arrange a new one. The phone number in the email doesn't work...

Getting a bit annoyed now.

Think it might be time to leave Bulb. Despite the fact it's green energy, it just seems too expensive compared to other providers.

A lot of these so called green companies aren't green though. They just buy certificates to offset their carbon.

Also I don't know why anyone would pick a more expensive provider just because it was green. We shouldn't be the driving force our incompetent government should be.

My wife says she wants to start buying loose food for example. I was like I'll buy whatever I want. She wanted us to start buying soap in paper wrapping as an example. I bought shower gel in a plastic tube.

We shouldn't be the ones changing the government should be forcing the companies to change. Because it makes zero difference if you or I change. Because the vast majority never will until it's forced upon them. So why put yourself out of pocket and achieve nothing?

We should be pressuring the government to do more. As they are the ones that can make wholesale changes that truly do make a difference.

Yes my attitude might suck to some. But they have their heads in the sand if they think by me buying soap instead of shower gel is going to make any different to the planet.

They've got to pay for the referral scheme some how :p

Only people I ever see pushing Bulb now are those hunting for their free £50. Some of them barely pay for their energy.

I earn £350 in my first year with Bulb, those were the days...

Didn't realize that green energy was so cheap.
Looks like i can save about £300 by switching to them.
And I thought that I was already on a good tariff.

Which energy supplier will do work on gas meter to rewire ground wire and cut pipe, as my gas meter is in difficult location.

Ovo man said be can't touch ground wire and I would have to get electrician. If another supplier can do the work I'll switch supplier.

I moved to EOn in Dec 19 and since then I'm constantly getting emails/phone calls/letters saying I've got to have them fitted as I'd agreed to it when I chose to move onto my current tariff. Nothing was mentioned when I moved and I would not have moved to a tariff that had this as a condition. I've emailed and spoken to EOn stating that I don't want a meter so stop contacting me. They asked me why and I said it won't change my energy habits and I'm not sure the technology is mature enough across all energy suppliers just yet, they replied that this wasn't a good enough answer!

Anyway, rather than just have a knee jerk reaction and refusing to have a meter, what are the arguments against having one fitted? I'm sure we'll all get one eventually and I think EOn fits the SMETS2 meter.

I moved to EOn after my previous supplier collapsed. I believe by agreeing to a tariff you will be "approached" for a meter installation; you can still refuse. I've yet to be approached.

Why don’t you actually want one? Seems you don’t really know why you are trying to refuse one.

The agents response is pretty fair because there is nothing wrong with what they are fitting now.
