Engine conversions, best combinations, hit me....

In CCC a few years back a chap put a rover v8 and turbo'd it and stuck it into a Mk1 Golf it had an M3 dashboard too I think.

It was sweet he got sick of explaining to people at shows and jsut said yeah 16v conversion.

Edit, sorry it was also converted to rwd and handled awsome from what the rightup said

You lot sticking V8s into small hatchbacks obviously don't care about weight distribution and handling then :D

something huge in a mini, if need be strip the back seats out completely and stick a whacking great V8 in it, and make it RWD.

either that or a caterham with something unbelievably monstrous, far more powerful than the R500, just for the hell of it.

I'm planning putting a 2.0 LSJ engine in my VX, in fact I already have the top end. An RST V8 engine would be nice though...

Always fancied the idea of a GT28RS 1.8T in a Corrado with a rallye floor pan and 4WD, dunno if anyone has done it but it sounds like a neat combo.

I know the 4WD/rallye conversion has been done on the rado a couple of times before, but not sure if it was mated to a BT 1.8.

not sure about the 1.8T although I have seen 2 R32 Rado's with the 4wd system. Very nice and fast but the rado was great because it handled so well, not sure how well they would handle with a 3.0 V6 in the front!

Given the opportunity - what engine would you stick in what car, for fun?

I'm in love with the idea of an F20 in a BMW E36 328 Sport. Saw a vid of one 18 months or so ago, goose bumps.

Probably considered complete and utter sacrilege on here mainly becasue BMW have more homely solutions to place in there, but being original is sometimes most peoples goal. I suspect it would have shed a lot of weight with the F20C and possibly be a bit more balanced with the engine fuirther back. I love it.

The favoured engines are usually the K20, 13B, 1.8T, SR** and RB** lumps with the F20C making its way into a few oldschool jap machines.

I loved that 13B Scoda Estelle that was flaoting about for sale a while ago and love the 13B AE86 that was on Option or Best motoring (forget which).

The sexiest car and engine combo of late for me has been the F20C Celica GT but I can't find the build thread for it, seems to be down :(

Just found this

F20C is quite a tall engine - I've noticed on Escort transplants and it is very noticeable in that BMW posted above - look at how proud it sits of the bay.

My top "wishlist engine transplant" engine is an old Ford DFV.

Perhaps in the back of a spaceframed mini, or the front of a Capri. Or, Supervan style, in a Transit. Bit of a Ford theme there...
