Engineer refusing to fix my cooker

Isn't it obvious what the hazard is ?

There's no point arguing with them, just comply with the health and safety regulations.

Send him a new picture of it when it's clean (the whole kitchen :p) with an uncooked apple pie sitting on the shelf and tell him it's his once the fire is rekindled.

Well considering the company you've asked to repair it have asked you have it done to comply with regulations? nah I wouldn't bother

Have you checked the legs to check if they are the twist ones?
I wouldn't be suprised if they're seized mind

I'm going to double check that they are. So does the cooker need to be exact same height as the worktop? What happened if the cooker is slightly higher?

How difficult is this for you? Because it sounds like it is very difficult... :p

Oven. Same height as worktop. Add metal strips. Phone them back.

If it were me, I'd probably do something like chuck a couple of these under each foot (or some other shape that is as long as the oven is deep to get both feet on one slab):

They're a bit heavy but you get the idea. I wouldn't go for wood personally.

Getting an edging strip on the worktop might be tricky as the oven looks a little snug and the tiled area at the back might mean you have to alter the strip a bit.

I'd also get some MrMuscle...

If they're the twist type then you should have a good few CM or variance between bottoming out and full to top.

Fixed :p

If the feet won't adjust, which would be odd, I'd be contacting them as you could goto all the time and effort of raising it only for them to come back and say "sorry it's sitting on bricks, were not touching that"

If the feet don't adjust, then I'd do what I suggested above, pull it out, full service and clean and refit by a proper company
