I imagine a lot of that was because we dont have the euro finals players. You would hope he mixes it up at the first game vs Croatia but he will no doubt end up with a Sterling, Rashford and Kane front three.
If sterling plays on the left then where does that leave Grealish who has looked our best player every time he's put on an England shirt.

It's the defence that worries me the most especially if maguire isn't fit and we have to fall back on Mings who always looks like he's got a mistake in him.

To be fair Maguire and Stones look to have plenty of mistakes in them as well.

Rather see Grealish or Sancho play than Sterling or Rashford.

Johnstone put in a good performance against Romania tbf to him, had a couple of moments but no worse than the other options!

I'd like to see anyone else play over Mings in defence, that guy just doesn't fill me with any confidence at all, maybe it was nerves about trying to earn a spot in the starting lineup but he seemed a bit all over the place in the friendlies.

You just know he's going to play Rashford & Sterling, which is a joke. I'm not sure the last time I saw Rashford hit the target with a shot? Maybe I only remember the bad attempts :D I feel for him, he's clearly lacking in confidence on the pitch. However, to ignore Grealish's friendly performances the past week would be ridiculous, he was by far the best player.

Rashford has been pretty awful for about 6 months now for whatever reason. Doesn't go past players, runs into them, looks for a foul more than a positive outcome from his own actions. I wasn't sure if its the injury he is nursing, too many games in too little time with very little break. Either way he would be an impact sub for me at the moment rather than a starter

We've got so many good options for the front 3 (well, LW & RW anyway) that aren't Rashford who is probably burnt out, or Sterling who hasn't had his best season. Fairly sure they'll both start though.

I'd probably go for Kane upfront with Grealish Mount and Foden in behind, Henderson Rice DMF then Shaw Maguire stones and walker at the back for Croatia as taking control of midfield and stopping Moderic playing will be key.

It doesnt look like Maguire will be fit until after the group stages.

Think I'd change one of Henderson/Rice for Bellingham and Maguire for White for fitness reasons but same other than that. Wouldn't mind swapping Walker for James too.

Southgate could have earnt a lot of respect kicking out the out of form players and the injured ones, potentially keeping his job after the tournament. Instead he's picked them, gone with all defenders that no footballing fan wants to see and seemingly happy with it all. What numpty.

Anyway, all been said before, let's hope our set pieces are on point.

It's a shame, but Mount, Grealish and Foden all play his role, get in the team over him, and are younger than him, so I get the decision
I think Southgate would have originally picked Lingard over Grealish as Southgate never really fancied Grealish but his performances in an England shirt have made him undroppable and is now probably one of the first names on the team sheet.

I was kind of expecting Lingard to be called up after Trent dropped out but not unhappy with another defender.

I see Philipe Fodenhio went full Gazza.

I just don't get the comparisons with Gazza. If anyone is anything like Gazza it is Grealish but even he comes up short.

None of them could even dream of scoring a goal like he did against Scotland. In fact considering it was near enough a quarter of a century ago if that goal was scored today they would think it would be Messi that did it.

In some parallel universe Gazza didn't take those sun beds for his sister and went to United instead and went down as the greatest English player ever.
