Trent is top of that pile of young talent tbh. Pundits just seem to cream of Foden because he is flavour of the month.

I like Foden but he plays in a billion pound team with next to no responsibilities.

I dont really follow England but it is interesting to see what happens now as Greenwood has to get a spot. Does Sterling drop out?

Sterling's still had a more productive season than Greenwood, in fact so has Sancho, Foden, Grealish, Barnes and Rashford.

It'll be interesting to see if Southgate picks the form players, as he repeatedly said he would do at the start of his tenure, or if he continues to pick his favourites.

If he goes on form then Greenwood has to get in.

So you are telling me he didn't go over 20 games without scoring and the radio program was wrong. One goal in 26 I think they said. Not good enough for a player in the top 4. At least he does have two feet, unlike Rashford so that's a plus for him going forwards.

You just said DCL should go ahead of him??? DCLs form the past 3 months has been poor.

He's not had the best form in the last couple of months but he's also not been that fit or had players that complement him fit. He's also not playing in a side with anything like the creativity Greenwood has at united. Yet he's still scored more goals than Greenwood and offers more of an aerial threat. DCL still has 16 goals in 28 appearances, not many English players have better stats this season. I said at the start of the season I thought he would get 20, don't quite think he will get there now.

Another stat is 6 in his last 20.

Greenwood got 1 in 26, which is worse?

Was that the last 26 games?

We are talking about right now.

Pickford/Pope

Walker Maguire Stones
James Rice Henderson (if fit) Chilwell
Mount Foden
Kane

Can't think of a stronger side in my mind, 3-5-2-1 for robustness in defence and James and Chilwell offer such an attacking threat and for overloading the wings.

Yes, I am a Chelsea fan! :p

James ahead of Trent would be an insane thing to do lol

I feel for Wan-Bisaka. The wealth of right backs we have, it's a shame he's not in the squad. I rate him over James imo though.

He isnt better then James. You have to have more then simply being good defensively which itself can be debated with him. If we play 3 cbs then not taking Trent and James is scandalous.

But if walker plays a centre right back, then you have James and Bisaka, Trent is great but this has been a bit off the ball. Like I said a wealth, so it's a shame but he's not exactly crap a solid show in United defence all season and has scored a few.

Bissaka isnt very good off the ball from what ive seen. Regularly gets caught napping.

If you take Bissaka and James over Trent then well i dont know what to say to you. Especially if the full backs will be playing a more attacking role.

I don't think it's as clear cut as you say. Both same age, both played the same amount of goals this season and played the same amount of games.
Both teams have same goal against defensive record, +1 and aside from United scoring more they're both Top 5.
James has the better defensive record of the 3. Based solely on stats, Trent would lose. I haven't spent all season scrutinising defenders to the nth degree so from the games I've caught I don't have your pessimism.

Trent is a generational talent. There isnt many teams in the world he doesnt start for...Bissaka absolutely isnt.

AWB is not capable of playing like Trent did last night.

It does, in other words you didn't see it you read a piece somewhere and then spouted about poor finishing. Thanks for the clarification. I suggest you watch the highlights to see the chances he had.

I absolutely have seen it and i havent got the time to go through them for you. I have other things to do and ive already said i will respond later.

Ayling better than them all.

Alli
Mount

Backup players to fill out prelimary squad of 30, if they do that this time:
Pickford
Wan-Bissaka
Saka
Rashford
Phillips
Dier
Lingard

Biggest issue for England is the spine of the team, aside from Kane we don't really have many central players that will truly strike fear into the hearts of the opposition, they are either relatively unproven or coming off an iffy season.

Alli? Not a chance he goes and neither does ward prowse. He will take Rashford because he likes him.

I've decided to demote Alli based on the fact he's not had that many chances under Mourinho so the end of the season has come a bit too soon for him, and I'd forgotten Maddison. I do think Alli has one of the highest potential of England players though, if we need a game-changer he could be it. Absolute baller when on form, not totally sold on his attitude at times though. Also I guess we should have enough creativity from elsewhere.

Ward-Prowse I think gives a bit of balance to the squad, he's the best on dead-balls and the likes of Kane and DCL should thrive on his delivery. He can also sit a bit deeper than some, one of the issues is we have a lot of creative attacking midfielders, but not much lying deeper.

Im not sure Maddison catches either. As for Ward Prowse, you cant take a player just for his set pieces especially when there is players in the squad who have a proven track record for eg Trent from dead balls.
