England Squad

I actually think our current team is alright, nothing amazing but its better than 75% of teams out there. On paper.

and that is the problem the current England team is 'alright' people rightly expect it to be better than that!

Look at history, it never has been anything better than that.

We dont deserve to be better than that.

We teach long ball, we teach getting stuck in. A change in culture is needed

Start training the players from a youth level properly and then we can expect to be better than alright

Harry Kane hatrick.

Or not. Edit: Or maybe?

Not true, we had very, very good sides in 86, 90, 96 and 98. I wasn't about in 66 to see it, but we must've been pretty decent to win it.

I do agree we've been gash for the best part of 15 years mind.

Not true and I can't stand the perpetuating of this myth we have been a very good international side in the not so distant past rubbish sides don't make World Cup quarter/semi finals!

I seem to recall Young was one of, if not our worst player at Euro 2012, he was utterly appalling.

Why is Downing not getting a look in? His form has tailed off a little the last couple of months, but I thought he was doing pretty good at West Ham?

They did pick him and then played him out wide instead of the role he was playing for us. Now Allardyce keeps shoving him out wide and his form has gone to pot again.

I don't get why Noble hasn't been given a shot yet Barry has. I would took Noble over Barry any day of the week. Noble never played for man City though did he. If he sat on their bench instad of playing for us every week he would have been a shoe-in.

Squad to face Ireland on June 7th for an international friendly and Slovenia on June 14th for a Euro qualifier.

Surprised to see Young not being selected again, how have the likes of Mason and Wilshere got the go ahead? Also not sure Vardy deserves a spot either, Ings has been way better.

Goalkeepers: Green (QPR), Hart (Manchester City), Heaton (Burnley)

Defenders: Bertrand (Southampton), Cahill (Chelsea), Clyne (Southampton), Gibbs (Arsenal), Jagielka (Everton), Jones (Manchester United), Smalling (Manchester United)

Midfielders: Barkley (Everton), Delph (Aston Villa), Henderson (Liverpool), Lallana (Liverpool), Mason (Tottenham), Milner (Manchester City), Sterling (Liverpool), Townsend (Tottenham), Walcott (Arsenal), Wilshere (Arsenal)

Forwards: Austin (QPR), Rooney (Manchester United), Vardy (Leicester City), Welbeck (Arsenal)

Ings is overrated and hasn't scored enough this season, Vardy has been picked on his work rate which is pretty laughable. Berahino would have been the better choice considering he's only behind Kane and Austin in terms of top English scorers.

Wishere and Mason are center mids so not picked over Young. I'd of picked him over Townsend mind.

England squads keep getting worse in terms of technical ability.

Yep, I mean Barkley, seriously? :p We are badly lacking quality in midfield.

Ings has scored 10 which is OK, still better than Vardy's 4. Also forgot about Berahino, he probably would have been better than Both.

We could do with a proper winger instead of sticking Welbeck out wide. Townsend has a decent international record so it'd be Walcott I'd sacrifice for Young.

Vardy? Wow.

Also, how can Gibbs be in there ahead of Aaron Cresswell? Having strong options for left-footed set piece delivery clearly isn't very important for Roy.
