Not a single left back in the squad, it'll be interesting to see what formation he goes with. 3 at the back I would assume, rather than shoe horn someone in at left back.

It would be quite hilarious if he stuck Eric Dier out there, oh the humanity.

Dier is actually playing, that blows my mind. Pickford as well, suggests he wants to stick with him moving forward which isn't ideal.

On the other hand Foden and Ward-Prowse getting a chance is good.

like I said, Southgate claiming he would pick on form was BS. Just like at the world cup, the reality is favourites over form. Pickford had one good season two years ago and has been comparatively rubbish since; average at best. Pope and Henderson should be 1 and 2 for me. Ings nearly won the golden boot despite being in a distinctly sub-par team compared to others. But no, got to pick Kane. And Rice? Has he done much recently to merit that vs alternatives? Form? Are you having a laugh?

Mostly garbage, barely a shot on target, no urgency whatsoever. Yes we should be winning but we’ve created almost nothing else, air shot from Rice that’s about it?
 
Southgate needs to grow some and just put all the attackers on. The midfield is an absolute joke. Especially with Grealish on the bench.

This game has been terrible wasn’t even sure I’d heard Foden’s name until he was subbed, yes they screwed up by disallowing the goal but England have shown nothing at all since
 
We're too defensive, I say the same every time we play this sort of standard, why do we need a midfielder sitting deep? We should have 3 midfielders that have attacking intent. No need whatsoever to play a defensive midfield player against a team who want 11 in their own half.

Defenders left, right, left right, out wide, back to centre half, rinse and repeat. Thats been the entire pattern of play for 75 minutes. Its a sad state of affairs when we have to complain about an officials decision to beat Iceland.

No one willing to turn, no one trying a quick 1-2, no one willing to try and beat a man (bar Sancho in the first 10 minutes). Its criminal the attacking talent we have and we've created next to nothing in 75 minutes against this lot. It's not like they're hanging on, they're totally comfortable. It's so easy for them to play against.

I hate the comment of we had possession, it’s no good having the ball if you haven’t a clue what to do with it, we’ll keep doing the above and then Southgate will roll out “We won the possession stat”

Indeed. Against a team that are happy for you to have possession no less.... 80% possession knocking it around at the back isn't any good.

Edit: penalty! If he's handled that its a great save.

Stolen one, never a penalty in a million years.

Hahahah he's evened it up. One of the very few Iceland attacks and we can't handle it.
 
Not sure that’s a penalty tbh, his arms were across the front of his body and to then give him a 2nd yellow
