English & European Football [17th - 22nd Apr 2010] **spoilers**

Cements Mourinho as one of the best managers in the world to be honest. He is seriously formidable.

FAHCT!

Chelsea and their fans must seriously be kicking themselves for getting rid of the best thing to ever happen to them

Goes without saying that I dread the day that Fergie calls time but it's hard not to look forward to when Jose does eventually land at OT

Full Time.

Inter 3 - 1 Barcelona

Superb performance from Inter really, 2nd leg will be something special! And everyone can watch it as it's on ITV I think, so the thread should be a bit more lively :p

Aye Inter were awesome, they also had a number of chances that should have been goals, particularly in the 1st half, the amount of energy and stamina they have to constantly chase the ball is phenomenal, they just don't stop attacking/defending.

Still if Messa was a bit more lively perhaps the score would be quite different, can't wait till the 2nd leg.

meh was an alright game tbf Inter were good played Barca at own game but some of the decisions werent so kind to them...

Maicon hacking down Pedro no yellow
Sniejder on Alves he made contact
Militos offside for his goal
shove in back on pedro from lucio? Pedro gets it then ref changes his mind?

Barca need someone other than Ibra he never seems to do a great deal the swap was just crazy ffs.

Winning a semi final first leg? What happens if Barca still make the final?

As good as Inter were today, 1 of their goals was offside and Barca should have had 2 penalties.

Agree with you but i think sooner or later barca was going to get a "chelsea" type of ref, he was calling it for the home team. Still think that barca will go through.

What two penalties, the Alves one would be given in most games, but Snjeider did pull out without question, he actually stopped as contact was made, Alves dived at that point, the contact wouldn't cause someone to flop over, he felt something and went down. Snjeider was made to go in but did well to stop, zero follow through, stopped and there was nothing to make him go down.

But what was the other one? Messi? He dived clear as day with no contact, could be another one I missed though.

I thought Inter were ok, but not great, I can't believe the first goal, they all just stopped dead for some reason, but the goal was rather against the run of play as Inter had a couple decent breaks and Barca had the posession no real chances before the goal.

Barca have turned into really bad cheats this season, Alves is barely off the floor, serves him right he got stamped on after yet another dive. Messi dived, Busquets dives all over the shop and was pretty useless throughout.

I think people are over rating Barca, theres no competition in the Spanish league other than Real, who aren't great and right up there with them. They beat Arsenal, which is not hard to do these days, we made it as easy as that first goal Inter gave them, they weren't great, we were just terrible. Barca were as per usual lately, looking for the killer throughball and really not able to pass through teams and create goals from anywhere or anyone like the last few seasons.

Two years ago anyone could score from anywhere, this season its a killer Xavi throughball for Messi, or not really performing.

Second leg will be very interesting, Barca have to go all out but they have always been defensively weak to the counter attack.

I don't get what people are talking about Messi diving for, he lost his footing, sprung back up immediately and went to try and regain the ball.

I know he rarely appeals for penalties and free kicks anyway but that was certainly not a dive, the way he fell just looked a bit like one :p

Messi dived near the edge of the box didn't he? Quite blatantly too. There was one time where he lost his footing and ended up getting kicked in the shoulder gently by Cambiasso as he fell if thats the one you are refering to? There is no defending the one on the edge of the box though where he made absolutely no attempt to stay on his feet, indeed he was falling down before there had even been any contact.

Such a shame that he seems to be doing it more and more nowadays. He really doesn't needed to and I always thought a lot more of him when he used to pick himself straight back up and get on with the game.

I cant remember which one specifically, it was just inside the box I think, it didn't look bad to me and his reaction suggested he just lost his footing, but perhaps not.

He is starting to appeal quite a bit more now yes, although it was said on Sky Sports not long ago that players are being told to appeal for everything they can, which isn't surprising given the recent quality of the officials :p

Mourinho makes me laugh...his interviews are always a classic affair....watching SSN this morning and his comments about the stupidly long coach trip that Barca had to suffer through.

As for him saying Inter are the best team in the world...ermmm you havent won anything ye,...i mean the Serie A league isnt as good as it used to be and they have yet to win the CL but after last nights performance i would put them odds on favourite to win it possibly this season. But his utter arrogance is astounding to be quite frank...i think hes a great manager but he needs to be a bit more humble...hopefully he gets his arrogant arse handed to him in the 2nd leg.

Stats:eek:
8 shots compared 11 for Barca and over 80% possession for Barca:eek: but have to hand it to Inter for shutting down Messi and co.

Despite how good Barca can be I can see Mourinho holding out for a draw on the 2nd leg
