English League & European Football [2nd Apr - 8th Apr 2010] **spoilers**

How you see it going at the top of the table JG ?? title staying North or is it heading to London ?

I can't see you dropping any points from here on in, the only game you might screw up in is Citeh away & if you win that I think you'll win the league as Chelsea won't win all of their games from here (tough run in to be fair) and Arsenal need you (& Chelsea) to slip up.

Hmm, my dad showed me a coupon from the start of the season where he picked 20 head-to-head results for the season - one team to finish above the other.

All 20 are winning currently, he was going to put £5 on it but couldn't afford to at the time. Would pay £270,000. I've got everything crossed that Reading catch Sheff Utd, as the rest are all miles clear and can't be caught :(

Leeds playing a lot better today that the other night.

edit----->

And Yeovil have scored...lets see if Leeds are going to fall apart again.

Any chance Arsenal did have has gone, by stretching to the squad's limits they could still put out a decent enough team without Arshavin, Gallas, Cesc and RvP (best 4 players at the club?) but there is no replacement for Song either in midfield or defence. Silvestre or Sol at CB and no real DM against Barcelona is suicide. imo Song was the most important player left in the team and I can't believe he's gone now too. Awful luck with injuries

Except for the fact both goals were Song's fault, the single easiest move in football for a striker is to run between the centre backs and in behind the blind side of one of the CB's. Zlatan ran from infront of Song, where Song saw and ignored him, in Verm's blindspot, in behind Verm.

Its incredibly basic defending, even Bramble does it, you see that run you start to cover it BEFORE he gets behind the defensive line. IT was also Song sitting deeper than Verm rather than holding the line. He STEPPED UP, AFTER the pass for one of the two goals before he turned and ran after him. You can blame Almunia, it was partially his fault, but all Almunia saw was Song going the wrong way, the pass already made and Zlatan on his way.

Songs awful in defence, almost every single pundit blamed Song for both goals saying he made incredibly basic error's. But thats what Song always does, he doesn't predict, he reacts, he's always behind the player and never covers runs, worst CB we have by quite some margin. Even in midfield Denilson managed to be pretty effective when he came on, more so than Song had been when he was alongside Diaby.

Sol is a much, much, much better CB, and Denilson on his past two games, hasn't been truly horrible at DM. But the key to beating Barcelona is get it to Bendtner quickly and make them chase back, try and play them through midfield is madness anyway. Push them back and the DM isn't as important, they are actually quite bad at closing and movement in their own half, largely because they rarely have to play there.

Diaby might be the key, Wenger drops the useless twit and we might have a chance. Offered nothing, choice of running with the ball or passing as always, was wrong 99% of the time, defensively as always, completely horrible. Unlike 5 games this year, his poor decision making didn't fluke him into a good position against a bad team.

We've still got a shot, Song being out makes no difference, will probably force Wenger to go with the better option. I think we're best off with Sagna right back and Eboue in the middle alongside Denilson with Nasri on the left of the middle, Bendtner, Rosicky, Eduardo as the 3 up top.

I can't see Wenger starting both Eduardo and Bendtner personally. I reckon he'll pick Diaby ahead of Eduardo who has lacked sharpness this season.

Great watching the clip of Torres being subbed yesterday, shaking his head at Gerrard who is like  WTF?! and then scratches his head :D:D

BBC camera angle was better though as you.

lol, I didn't see that bit yesterday, yes sometimes the manager has to overrule a player who would risk his long term health for a single short term win, IE Wenger really should have done a Benitez and forced Fabregas to come off the second he was in real trouble after the penalty. But its not like Torres looked in that bad a condition. Maybe he's been a good guy, realises 4th is out of the way and doesn't want to risk Torres getting injured pre world cup......... long shot, but a unhappy injured out of the world cup for no reason as Liverpool end up 6th anyway Torres would have even more reason to want to leave.

AS for Eduardo over Diaby, I doubt it aswell, Eduardo for me though, as with Vela, doesn't look sharp because, has he even started 2 games in a row, let alone 4-5. I doubt he's played more than 3 games in a row since the summer he moved to Arsenal now. Of course he won't come into the team almost 3 years later and perform at his best with players and a team he's really never played with. Its not even playing 3-4 games in a row, but 3-4 games a month would give him some level of fitness/sharpness.

Eduardo without form, is still better than Diaby with it, likewise Eduardo upfront with Bendtner whose played right wing very effectively a bunch of times, would be in a less crucial area. Nasri/Eboue/Denilson would give us a lot of closing down, pressuring, pace, strength, reading of the game and Eboue can run box to box all game better than anyone else in the squad(except CLichy when he's finally completely fit).

This is my problem with lack of small level of rotation, since Diaby got in the team he's barely left it, one or two small changes in easier games would mean less injuries at the moment and a more fit and sharp Eddie, Vela, Merida, etc, etc. This play them till they drop like flies in the final 2 months, and then play a bunch of completely unfit people in key games, well, clearly isn't working for us. Theres a level somewhere between Wengers no rotation unless you've got a broken leg, and Benitez's I will make stupid changes, because I like to make stupid changes, rotation policies that lowers the number of injuries and increases the rest of the squads fitness/form.

Peterbourgh have been relegated from the Championship.

Newcastle will be going up later today, I honestly think they will struggle next season.

I find that really surprising to be honest

Only because if anything its Chelsea who have the confidence at the moment, and come on after a week ago the Semi next week is not that much of a concern surely (ok its a seperate game but even so Drog didnt even play so you could put out a stronger team than played in the slaughter)

I totally agree about the citeh game vs Utd being very difficult and currently I wouldnt expect the away team to get anything from that at the moment

Blackburn away is a tough game (esp with Rooney being questionable whatever the media is saying today)

I can actually see Chelsea walking all their games -although Liverpool away is difficult and Wigan could be a tough fight but at home I would back Chelsea every day of the week - Liverpool is really the only game I can see you possibly dropping any points - and your goal difference by then should be so astronomical it wont make much difference imo

Well I don't really know what to say.

Wednesday are on the verge of relegation, a bitterly dissapointing game today.

Wednesday were comfortable, the better side, looked half decent going forward just didn't test the keeper often enough. Bristol scored on their third or fourth attack of the game, 10 mins or so to go.

I'm not hopeful, we have a really tough run in.

I don't really know what to say, I'm just upset :(
