English League & F.A. Cup Football [10th Apr - 14th Apr 2010] **spoilers**

Would Arsenal have won the league if Van Persie, Fabregas and Arshavin were fit throughout the season? Of course, hypothetical.

Hypothetically, yes for me. :)

No they wouldn't have, we've scored, or till the last couple weeks and a 7-1 smashing of Villa, we were scoring on par with Chelsea and Utd, we've conceded more goals all season.

Yes he looked solid when he came on, but think about it, we switched to a 4-4-2 and EVERYONE looked vastly better in that system, because thats the system the majority of players have played, for the past decade.

Now think logically, how were we playing at the start of the season with RVP, a 4-5-1, yes RVP is good, but Bendtner's scored 9 goals in 11 games, hardly a poor striker, its been the defence(or midfield exposing the defence) thats been the problem all season.

The bad players that have been responsible for our game losses, would still have played, with RVP, Bendtner, Arshavin, Messi or Eto'o upfront, they still would have scored and we'd have won the easy games, and still conceded far to many and created very few chances against the best teams.

RVP was fit last season and we still lost ALL the big games like we did this year, RVP wouldn't have made a difference, Fabregas wouldn't have made a difference, how can you tell? Because last year with all those players, and early this season against City, we got spanked.

Arshavin HAS been fit most of the season, but critically misused in a position that isn't close to his best, then we moved him to be a lone striker, which was laughably bad.

If RVP had been fit, we would NOT have moved toa 4-4-2 with Bendtner, we'd simply not have played him, never given him the chance to gain form like Eddie and Vela, and Bendtner would probably be off at the end of the season, rather than one of our best players scoring critical goals in many games this year.

The failure this year, has been the system, which has failed without exception to any half decent team, we were completely and utterly outplayed against Barca, Utd, Chelsea and pretty much City(except of course that final 15 minutes bombarding their goal....... after we switched to 4-4-2).

With 4-4-2, a fit and in form Eddie/Vela or even Theo Walcott playing off Bendtner we probably would have won the title, a fit RVP in the same system where we look like a bunch of retards chasing our tails against the big boys, would have made entirely no difference, because it made no difference early season, or last season.

Hardly a surprise, is it?

All of our bigger games are available on DVD. Nice for those who want a memento of their trip to the Lane.

Hahahaha there's just no defending this, it's pathetic! "Bigger games", what, a 4-4 DRAW against Arsenal and beating them 2-1? Yeah great stuff!

For me too, or at least it would have been a lot closer.

Although all clubs have had their fair share of injuries we have gone into the run-in with our 6 best players injured, just returning or recently injured. I'm not sure who people would consider like for like but any team is going to suffer badly if you removed their equivelant's of Gallas, Vermaelen, Fabregas, Arshavin, Song and RvP. Add to the injury list some of the players who would act as cover like Ramsey and the continued effects to players like Eduardo and its pretty ridiculous. Wasn't there a stat knocking about how our goal per game ratio dropped dramatically after RvP was injured? He also pretty much won us the game at Stamford Bridge last season.

I think overall though that the system is working. In the summer I'd like Wenger to instill the pressing game that Barcelona do so well (and something we did earlier on in the season) but we have been winning more of the games that we should expect to be winning this season and only really struggled against the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd. I don't include the Spurs game as a struggle on Wednesday as tbh, I don't think it was anything like the ManU game at our place. We were by far the better footballing team but were let down by yet more defensive bloopers and an injury hit attack.

ManU have shown though that winning both games against one of their closest competitors has had little impact on the position of those two teams, and winning games we should be expecting to win is much more important.

With Chamakh supposedly coming in if we address the goal-keeping and CB situation then next season could be a good one.

Derby matches are a special occasion regardless of the result.

And, actually, all the games can be requested, but only a few make it onto the store website.

Bale reportedly gone down with a groin injury in training today.

Just bloody typical.

Ledley is a possibility for the weekend, and as I said, Lennon is rumoured to be fit.
