English League & F.A. Cup Football [10th Apr - 14th Apr 2010] **spoilers**

I do think Spurs have a deeper squad, they just lack those world class players that are really difficult to find. Modric is probably the closest they have.

A tale of two keepers. Almunia was poor, Gomes was sensational. After not having much to do all game, Gomes made three world class saves in a row and then kept cool under sustained pressure.

You don't realise just how exceptional King is until he plays against the big sides. He was a rock today. Not just defending wonderfully but also disturbing the ball well. On several occasions in the second half he set up good counter-attacks for Spurs.

Also thought that Modric had one of his best games. When we were under pressure in the second half, he really ran the game.

Could have been 5-1 if Woodgate, Corluka and Lennon had been fit and Palacios wasn't suspended. :p

Really and I mean REALLY?

Modric was one of the worst players on the pitch tonight and constantly left everything to Huddlestone and offered nothing going forward. Spurs were a lot closer to full strength than Arsenal and even with those mentioned 2-1 would have been as far as Spurs went.

I still think we need to press the matter more often, we still look naive and Theo is very shy. He looks like he doesn't belong, as there ever been a more confidence player.

We do need to get some new players in though. Numero Uno is another first choice keeper. For the past 2 seasons I've been behind Almunia but he has made too many high profile errors and its time we looked to someone else. Joe Hart? We need another centre half for sure. Hangeland seems to be someone who would complement Vermaelen very well, pace and technique with power and strength? We probably need another scorer although I'm a fan of Bender and maybe if we went back 4-4-2 he could improve playing in front of Van Persie. If Gallas doesn't stay in the summer here's what I would like next season:

------------Hart/New Keeper------------------

Eboue Hangeland/Gallas Vermaelen Clichy

------------------Song------------------------

Nasri-----------Fabregas------------Arshavin

--------------RvP-------Bender----------------

Don't think Arsenal ever had a chance, it was Chelsea's as soon as they beat us.

I think the final "dropping of the axe" was at Blackburn. I was hoping that 'Pool might be able to wrestle at least two points off them, maybe even Spurs too.

But if we're not even going to win the games that we should be at a canter (no offence Blackburn fans, but I didn't exactly expect us to drop points there), then I don't think we stand a chance of catching them.

It'd need a capitulation of monumental proportions to not have the title winging it's way to the Bridge. Hopefully we can finally get the dead wood in midfield cut away, and add cover in defence and attack.

Offered nothing going forward apart from nearly scoring and setting off the vast majority of Spurs' counter-attacks? Spurs were outnumbered in midfield and Modric often had three Arsenal players around him. He did very well to keep possession in the second half.

I was obviously joking about 5-1. Just poking fun at those who think Arsenal lost because Spurs fielded a full strength team vs. an Arsenal second string.

Well done at embarrassing yourselves tonight Arsenal. As an Arsenal supporter I am embarrassed by what went on tonight.

Diaby, Silvestre and Almunia need to go. Tonight has highlighted how weak they really are.

But the buck doesn't fully stop with them, it stops with Wenger. We have a bloody terrible substitute list of players who are weak and not skilled enough to take over when our main players go down due to injury. We have had a tough time with injury this season but our substitutes aren't up to the task at all. Most of them shouldn't even be playing in the Premier League to begin with.

Wenger: Spend some money on quality players and substitute player or please leave Arsenal. All this in Wenger we trust tosh that has been floating around for years isn't something any sane Arsenal supporter can hold onto anymore.

Look at Blackburn's home record - even against the big sides, they are immense at Ewood Park. That game was the one that concerned me more than the derby this weekend (which Im dreading by the way, but being a derby a miracle could happen lol)

I agree on prinicipal though - as soon as Chelsea won at OT it was always looking mighty difficult (even though Bolton gave them a real test, which they were fortunate to escape from unscathed)

Decent goalie first please - and then a striker (or reliable left winger to bring up goals from midfield), then cover at LB (or CB if Vidic is sold)

Utd still have a slim chance (especially if Spurs can get the shock of the weekend at home, but that wont matter if Utd dont get the lunchtime result before hand)

:cool:²

If Citeh can beat Man.U. on Saturday I think that'll be enough as we can then afford to drop 6 points, if they don't I still think it's up for grabs.
All 3 have had enough chances to take control this season and wasted them, I don't really think any of them have been outstanding sides this year, the CL failures highlight that.

LOADS of love to Ledley King who again showed his ability by putting in a top notch performance despite very rarely playing and never training.

.. and his ability to hold the line at the back. Very impresive stuff.

Conversly, taking nothing away from a great spurs win, despite a dominant possession I don't think I've ever seen such a poor Arsenal defence.

I don't think you have any reason to be embarrased. Teams, including the top four, aren't exempt from loosing games. Personally, I think Wenger has done a good job in such difficult financial times at Arsenal and you've quailifed for CL each season you've been at the emirates. Granted, the team seem to lack a decent alternative CD but they had pretty much all of the game last night and VP caused us all sorts of problems when he came on. I think next season will be do or die for your manager though but if management keep his hands tied, they may just stick with him. Let's face it.. They're making money without spending much.. Why would a board member change that?

Hopefuly we'll see him back against ManU, there's no way he'll be ready for the Chealsea game on Sat.

Dawson has also been putting in some fine displays, just look at how many goals we've conceaded this season, 11 at home and 22 away :)
