English League Football [8th - 12th May 2010] **spoilers**

I assumed it was the achievements of a manager IN the premier league, and a lot of bosses (Fergie, Martinez, McCarthy etc) all said Hodgson, so surely they must know the guidelines of 'Manager of the Year', so i'm assuming it's not just purely down to the Premier League, but the performance of that manager. I always thought Spurs should have done better with their squad either way, done a good job, but if it's like Mourinho's first season - why didn't Ancelotti get it?

What do you mean the people who's opinions actually matter? Who are they? I think you'll find my opinion is as valid as anybody elses,

Obviously the people who actually hand out the award....

your thinking of another award the LMA manager of the year

im 100% sure Hodgson will win that and rightly so

If we're going on achievements in the league then I believe this season it should go to Ancelotti, he's done excellently in his first year and providing he does win the league then that is certainly some achievement. I just don't see how finishing 4th gets Harry the award.

Ancelotti is just carried by his players ;):p

I thought Hodgeson or McLeish should have gotten manager of the season.

I do hope Chelsea slip up to Wigan :p Can't really see it happening. Chelsea have had some really good perfromances recently and might well give Wigan a battering.

Hope United can win against Stoke, but I think there is more a chance of United slipping up then Chelsea.

Also, C'mon Leicester in the play offs :)

Should have been Hodgson of Fulham for manager of the yr...how dodgy 'arry got it is beyond me:confused:

Redknapp won 4th, City are a brand new and completely unestablished team, money or not, Liverpool, Villa, Fulham, the other guys who were Europa/4th spot had long Euro campaigns that Spurs didn't have.

Ancelloti, with few improvements has gotten better performances out of some of the dead weight in the squad, and several of the better players have had their best ever seasons and they are on the way to a title and maybe a double. Compared to Redknapp who had a 4th place competitive side while 2 of the other teams threw it away all season long, Liverpool by being crap and Villa because they can't score. He's spent a lot and got a huge squad compared to those teams who also had a lot of Euro games to play.

Personally I don't think Redknapp even did that well to be honest, with the other sides in the situation they were in Spurs should have had it secured ages ago.

Even looking at the rest of the league, you see the Brum ridiculously high up the table, only below 8 incredibly well established, huge spending very long term Premiership teams, they dwarfed the achievement of many bigger squads with far more money spent and they took a lot of big teams down in the process with really not a single "star" in the squad.

Personally I think Birminghams achievement and position is a huge achievement, much bigger than Redknapps, Hodgeson up there for manager of the year, but premiership he hasn't done as well as he should have so I think between McCleish and Ancelotti for Prem manager of the year.

There can only be one!

A good result for the reds today, setup a few beers on the town tonight.

Back at the city ground, job done.

3-1 to forest would be good, sorry Blackpool.

Massive final day in League 1, any of 5 teams could take 2nd place.

Leeds could go up with a draw if other result go our way, prefer a convincing victory and go up on points and not goals.

Beckford to score the winner and send us up!

I'm sure if you spoke to 'Arry he would be at pains to point out that when he came to the club 18 months ago Spurs were bottom of the league after 8 games with 2 points. 18 months later and Spurs are in the Champions League with a club record Premier League points total.

Players like Dawson, Huddlestone, Gomes and even Lennon had been written off as players who would never make the grade. And now, under Redknapp, they should all go to the World Cup if there's any justice.

If we're talking about giving the award purely on Premier League performance then it would be a toss up between Redknapp and McLeish for me.

The point you just made about individual players is exactly what it's about. What has happened to Bale since his arrival is amazing. Lennon finally started to show his full potential, surely the most ridiculed player ever, especially on this forum... it reached fever pitch at one point as every man and his dog laughed at Spurs fans who rated him. Within 6 months of Harry arriving Lennon was almost unplayable.

Huddlestone was going nowhere, now he's pushing very hard to be going to the World Cup and made himself first choice CM at WHL.

Dawson has always been good in the air but his overall game has gone up a level or two this season.

Gomes was the joke of the Prem... now he's arguably the King of it. I wouldn't swap him for any GK in the world right now.

Modric has been allowed to show his class and most teams would love to snap him up.

BAE is a much better player (when not played at RB lol) and this can be said for pretty much the whole side. They play as a team now and a very good one who play good football with confidence.

Great man management skills.

This blackpool v forest game has been utterly awesome so far, extreme pace, end to end and Cohen goal was better than many premiership goals
