English League Football ** spoilers ** [17th - 21st September 2010]

How much injury time was that? Thought we had passed a milestone of losing points like this. At least DM can have his usual fun slagging off Arsenal and it will be even better that one of his hate list got sent off.

I was only thinking at half time that I would have taken off Song as his challenges have been quite rough this season. Oh dear another 2pts dropped.

Chelski must be loving this with their good start and everyone elses average start.

At least we are still undefeated since before the pre-season. 1 point is better than 0 and I think if we are honest with ourselves and with the performance we didn't really deserve to win the game.

But it proves that we are still not good enough to close out games. You think Chelsea would have thrown away the 3 points there?

At the end of the day, we were 1-0 up against Sunderland, who are ****, and we somehow contrived to throw that away by not playing smart to close the game out, there is the penalty miss, but there is also the stupid football to go with it, 91st minute, we've got the ball at our feet, Nasri plays a 60 yard long ball for the run of Chamakh, just keep it for christ sake, pop it about a bit, arrrgh.

arsenal were poor, but I thought the centre backs did a decent job til the goal. Rosicky shouldn't be taking penaltys.

15 seconds after the 4 minutes were played. The game should have finished irrespective of anything else.

Yes we missed the penalty - but it was 0-1 till the 'end' of extra time.
It's a *minimum* of added time. I'm pretty sure the corner would have taken more than 15 seconds, plus whatever throw ins there were.

Meh, terrible all around, Rosicky, meh, rubbish rubbish Wenger idea of if you won the penalty, you can't take it, even so why isn't the inform striker taking the penalty rather than out of form, barely plays Rosicky? Song was abysmal start to very very early finish.

It was 100% clear if he stayed on he was getting a red card so while any other manager would sub him Wenger left him on then complained about the blantant block not being a foul. His first yellow was generous in that he had fouled repeatedly before it, and same goes for the second one, he did another foul right after his first yellow, the guys a MORON, as in literally stupid, much like the guy who kicked out at Nasri's leg in the box, Song consistantly fouls, in area's where there is no danger and no reason one point he was standing stopping a player going forward, in their half their player facing the Sunderland goal, ZERO danger, his job was done, stop him going forwards, so he just started trying to kick through the player to the ball, foul, obvious completely stupid.

LIkewise, Song was playing attacking midfield while Wilshire was playing defensive midfield? I feel like I still need to question the fact that if Song is THAT good a defensive midfielder, why does he get pushed further up for Nasri a couple years ago to step in as DM, and now Wilshire.

For me a DM makes tackles, stops attacking without conceding fouls, ANYONE, anyone at all can run back and trip people constantly, Song gives away a foul with almost every attempt to do anything. Neither CB looked particularly fantastic today, hashing up many chances, if Jones/half the rest of their team could get a header on target we could have ended up on a thrashing.

Wenger though was guilty of making stupid mistakes, how could he not see Song was going to be coming off with a red. LIkewise Denilson at the end with his dumb tame shot that had it been on target was covered, when Rosicky had run the length of the pitch, was a very simple pass to his right to time waste or create a better chance. Daft players who consistantly make the wrong choices cost us.

Another question though - why didn't Chamakh take our penalty? He was our striker!?

There wasn't anything there to really take it above 4 minutes. The move broke down before hand - that's when the fat idiot should have blown. Still, I do get your point though to be fair.

I agree. We are good enough to just keep the ball and pass it around without them getting it back. Might be boring but they could have at least done it in the last 5 minutes.

haha crazy game, oh well, Sunderland deserved a point for effort. Shame the penalty didn't go in but a draw from that game isn't a disaster.

Pretty cack with his feet, although i'm sure he would have side-footed it and at least hit the target. Nasri could have taken it too!

Clichy was the defender that didn't look too fantastic today. The CBs were great, they were good in the air and held on for 94mins while Sunderland kept us penned in. Almunia also had a great game, can't fault him for anything.

was it 4 minutes they held up?

because that's a minimum of 4 minutes and encapsulates from 4:00-4:59 only once it got to 95:00 would the time be up.

I think the ref was being 'fair' as Sunderland had attacking possession, so let them just get the cross in, if it was headed out theres no doubt the whistle would have gone. Arsenal should have dealt with it anyway, though!

Was fun to watch anyway :p

Agreed, as they do say 'minimum of 4 minutes to be played' or whatever. Annoying when they blow like 3:53 :p.

Yep exactly what im raging about...im sorry but that ref should have called the whistle full on 94mins...and before the skirmish in front of the goal...im sure i heard the whistle being blown but no one stopped...i actually thought the game was over and the ref was going to disallow it but seems like my ears were playing tricks on me:(

Guess my prediction of Sunderland scoring after we missed that penalty came true...****!!!! i should have slapped a few bob down on Sunderland scoring:p

Ref's can pretty much blow up whenever they want after 90 minutes can't they?

They don't have to add time on or use all the time iirc, they do and normally wait for a "lull" in extra time to blow for full time.
