Enough already! We get it!

Lets all get our pitch forks and hunt em down! **** it burn them at the stake!
A hell of a lot of folk here like to hear from those that have imported games just to see what they play like. Some of your need a jumbo pack of twisty knickers for xmas.

Are you being ridiculous on purpose? I couldn't give a stuff what they do, but when their posts end up getting threads closed then it becomes an issue.

Oh I see where you're coming from, and I don't disagree. In fact I don't give a toss about people talking about bent games beyond the obvious jealousy that they are playing games I can't wait to play because I can choose to ignore the post.

I just see why it is that you can't post that kind of thing- there are a few people out there who can legitimately get the games as you mentioned, but a lot of the time it is all plain piracy. So as a don you could spend all day asking people for proof etc, but it's far easier and less likely to explode in your face if you just nuke the whole thread from a great height.

shouldn't be allowed to talk about the content of a game until it's official release date in the UK (as OcUK is a UK based company). simple as that. anyone in breach of this should be banned for good.

pirates are scum, (and no, i don't mean the "har haarrr me hearty" type of pirate).

What happens if i go to a games convention and play a game long before release? Can i not talk about it then?

Review sites get games before release and talk about their content all the time. Does that mean we can''t post that here?

Yes yes I am because some of the crap coming out here deserves a response just as stupid. Those that pirate stuff tend to be fairly obvious about it and there is some of that happening in the PC section atm, it appears to be going unnoticed.

Photos are probably fine as proof of imports imo, and a separate 'imported game thread' is a good idea to hide story spoilers. That way its not the oh so special OFFICIAL threads that get closed down/ruined. We shouldn't turn away people that get excited enough to import titles early though, thats just silly.

That's why we need some clear rules so that there is no confusion. The difference I'm talking about is when people jump in to threads, post about how good a game is or make some little comment that doesn't quite suggest they have downloaded a game (yet we know they have)...and then end it with a: ;) Total ****-take.

hmm. there's an idea. a sub forum or something similar for imports. imports arent illegal any any way, so i dont see why we should be allowed to mention them. obviously, copied games are. but i dont know about everybody els,e but to me they are not the same thing.

Interesting idea. Have PC Games, Consoles and Imports. Perhaps then have a specific criteria for posting about games in that forum (pictures of imported game) and then for the PC Games and and Consoles forum have not talk of playing a game, posting screenshots etc until release day.

Of course you can. I did it about Gears of War and others did it about the PS3.

I think if you visit Nintendo and Sony's site you'll find they are illegal, which is why a very well known Hong Kong distributor was shut down a few years ago with the PSP.

Region free is different, but purchasing an Asian title to play on your Asian console is illegal because the title is NEVER intended to be released outside of the territory stated.

Purchasing an Asian or US console is illegal because the consumer laws are different in the EU, so you're NOT protected. Therefore because of this, purchasing 'said' imported game to play on 'said' illegal console is - illegal.

Again -VERY VERY gray area!

With regards to the no talk sans proof "rule" it's largely because people were extracting the urine on a regular basis.

"Oooh game X is fantastic, i've completed it already"
"how did you play it, it's not out anywhere yet"
"my aunt in america sent it to me as a birthday present"
"your 8th birthday this year, and what time travelling courier did she use this time to get it to you at about the same time it hit the warez servers, a month before release?"

Or

"I bought/watched it in america"
"when"
"a couple of days ago"
"you must have a few million air miles, you visit America about 3 times a week, getting home in time to post from your home connection every day, are you sure you're not a drug smuggler?"

The rule is annoying at times, even for the mod team, but people tend to ignore polite requests that they don't go shouting about the fact they've just downloaded "bloody gunz 27" from "OMGL33t Warez"

So what's the deal with encouraging users to report it if all that happens is the thread they're trying to keep 'clean' ends up being deleted?

I try not to decent threads that have merely gone off track. Cleaning up by simply deleting the posts is easy enough when it's just a few, but when it's pages and pages of arguing where you have to check each and every post incase it mentions piracy it takes the ****.

Then why not do something about the posters then? It's almost always the same ones.

Edit; just to clarify..i'm not trying to get people banned, but something should be done.

So non UK based OcUK'ers can't talk about games released in their region? Right. So if they do you want to ban them? Been chatting to George W Bush and his ideas of "freedom" have you?

Pirates are scum? Wrong. Drug dealers, rapists, murderers, Jeremy Kyle show guests are scum. People that commit copyright infringement are not scum just misguided or clever depending on what side of the fence you sit. Me? I have no problem with people copying games as I don't care if the big corps lose a sale or two (maybe they should charge less) and I always side with the anti-establishment people as it is my nature.

The rules on this forum regarding posting are black and white and mostly fair as per Werewolf's post.

so what threads in the OP have been deleated recently by talk of warez?, not noticed myself, yeah the odd post but nothing major for ages.
