Enough already! We get it!

I must admit this area can get confusing..

I can see some PS3 game talk about 'imported' games that are before UK release.. these seem to be OK because the PS3 isn't hacked yet?

I think anyone talking about piracy or their pirated game should be suspended/banned/whatever, that's obvious, but as long as the game is importable and released somewhere in the world, and the talk is only about the game, surely this is OK..

OCers is known for it's rather draconian rules, and I suppose it's like it or lump it, but common sense sometimes need to prevail..

[edit] - just read the Assassins Creed thread.. yeah, I see the issue seems to keep popping up.. poor dons.. keeps them on their toes..

I actually agree with the rule regarding th no talk about warez without proof you actually own the game (not surprising considering I was the main Don enforcing it when it came in). If you own the game and was lucky enough to get it early, it's not hard to prove you own it. It really is very simple as far as I'm concerned.

If I were still a Don I'd have cracked down on it by now :p

Bread + picture of game used to do the trick for that situation, or for peeps who got the game early.

Such as my PGR4 Asian import :)

All you need to do is enforce the "No talk without picture proof (Must have bread)" rule and that's it.

Simple as that tbh, what I find confusing is how some people find it so hard to follow such a simple rule.

;).

I have noticed that piracy talk has zero tolerance in console but in pc section it is hardly even moderated, the crysis demo thread is a disgrace yet mods do nothing, i presume its down to "selling more pc hardware" if a pc game is seen as must have.

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=10475662&postcount=2828 that post is blatantly admitting to playing the game.

Don't forget that the Dons can't read everything. They always rely on people RTM'ing anything dodgy that they see, they can then easily go straight to the problem and deal with it.

There's no piracy talk in that thread.

You're bringing up the issue of piracy which is the problem with people discussing games early, someone always has to whip out the pirate card.

Ok then, soon as the game is leaked then suddenly a lot of people like you I guess have screens of it being played, but its a legit game you have really :D

perhaps it just means console gamers are oiky swats who go and tell teacher at the first sign of trouble.

Read what you quoted, read what you posted then come back and stand in the corner with the big hat with a D on it. It WILL make you look a little bit more mature. I emphasise the 'little bit'.

I can't see the problem. If you did get it early on the legit, go play the game, and come back when it is nearly out and shout about it then. If you can't, then a ban is the right move.

No talk of piracy no. Just talk of playing an unreleased game all night. :p

Gotta agree with what's been said, If you are blatantly talking about a game that's not released here, You should prove it's legit. Bread + Pics sounds a good way to do this. And if you are in such a rush to talk about the game, I cant see you being upset about showing off your new game via pictures anyways!

TriedandTested just so I'm clear on this, are you against intellectual / copyright theft or the discussion thereof which may cause a thread you're interested in to be closed?

or is it both ?

Personally I think it would just make more sense to let people say whatever they like about a game, but nothing about how they got it. It doesn't matter. We're not here to tell people what to do with their money, we're here to talk about games. Any opinion on the game is valid, even if you got it illegally.

I've never downloadeda game myself, I always buy those that I want, and I do disagree with pirating, but I don't get all uppity if someone else downloads a game. It's really not worth me losing sleep over, and nothign I say is ever going to make them suddenly turn around and start paying for things.

The problem here doesn't seem to be the actual piraters to me, it's the people that insist on being nosey sods for no reason, and demanding to know where someone got their game. Who cares? What does it achieve?

weebull, the problem with that approach is fairly simple and two fold.

1: the "pirates" tend to want to think they are clever and cannot wait to hint "oh, well I got it from Tom Orrent in Penzance Bay"
2: It's fairly obvious to the people that when someone starts talking about playing a game ages before release, when it's just hit the warez servers that they are playing a pirated game.

People can do what they want I'm not going to make judgments..it's their choice, it's just when they then go out of their ways to post screen shots and insinuate that they have got games illegally thus causing perfectly good/interesting threads to get removed. It's just completely pointless seeing as they know what the rules are around here and are ONLY doing to seemingly try and impress others - what would be impressive is if they could manage to keep their mouths shut and show some respect for the other members on this board who succeed in making this forum a great place to exchange info, learn about games and generally have a good natter.

Nice post! :) I think that sums it up to be honest.

Are you kidding?! So it's not the fault of those that have got a game illegally and can't restrain themselves posting on here about..but everyone else curious about how they are playing it so early. It's usually the most highly anticipated games too...so the people in question are quite aware of what posting screen shots etc will do.

The FAQ doesn't say people can't ask questions, it does mention no talk of warez though.

Stupid or not, the rules are there. They get broken and threads get deleted. So yes, until there is some clarity maybe you shouldn't talk about it.

I can't answer the question about the game you got in the US, but it used to be a rule that you had to show proof of ownership etc? Wasn't this all to prevent OcUK getting in trouble? I know it has a very small chance of happening, but that's what was said.

These arent the rules though, i suggest you actually read the rules, all it says i

Where the unwritten rule about posting a game with a loaf of bread came from I do not know, its crazy.
