Epic is giving away big games for the next few weeks again

I played 10 hours of Death Stranding before I got past the pretty graphics and found it a chore and uninspiring. I'm sure there's more to it, but I'm not going to waste untold gaming sessions on maybe finding it. I have loads more enjoyable things to play through.

Likewise. It was fun to start with and kind of relaxing. I think clearing a section of BT only to have it reset as soon as I stepped outside that zone made me give up in the end.

My lord is Death Stranding boring...the story makes zero sense, the combat is terrible, controls woeful and the whole gameplay loop bloody awful.
Most games I dont like that are universally liked I tend to understand why they are liked but its that they just arent for me...but Death Stranding is a whole other bag, I just dont get it.

Being bored and rimmed with non sensicle cut scenes, tripping over pebbles and being forced walking miles to drop a box for no reason sure aint my idea of fun.
But Kojimo made it so it must be good right?

Death Stranding is one of those very strange games (more of an experience) but I really enjoyed it when I did a playthrough few years ago on PS4. I might do another run again as sometime in the future.

The story does make sense, you just have to open your mind to it and understand what Kojima is putting across. The message is basically that the dead are not truly gone from our lives, you can't see them but we are connected to them. It's an experience. Beautiful sound track and scenery. It's definitely a marmite game though.

It's such a polarising game and for obvious reasons. I went into it with an open mind and sure enough ended up completing the whole thing.

Happy to say it's one of the most immersive, memorable and emotive games I've ever played. Will definitely play it again at some point.

Completely understand why some find it boring though, I guess it depends on the state of mind of the player and what they want out of a game but for me it hit the spot.

Have seen people say its a walking/postman simulator lol but i still may give it a go at some point as im curious
It’s a very odd game. It can be unbelievably frustrating, particularly bikes that can’t ride over rocks and the game is full of rocks. The balancing is novel them very repetitive. its a novel concept and storyline but it’s not for everyone.

I liked it at first when I played it a while ago, but then saw how much walking and laddering is involved several hours in and thought "nope".

I am another person who got Death Stranding last week on the Epic Store.

Game looks fantastic.

So many cutscenes!!

Have played about ten hours. Nothing about the game is making me want to go back in and play it anymore. Maybe the story and the graphics are enough for some people to ignore the boring gameplay. However for me, the game itself is as tedious and uninspiring as digging a field of potatoes. It's repetitive monotony, going through the motions until the next storyline cutscene is played.

And don't get me started on the like system and the signs.

I was actually considering buying it several times, I am very glad I didn't. There would have no way of getting a refund. For the first few hours of the game, it's mainly cutscene after cutscene. And then by the time I would have realized it had such shallow gameplay, it would have been too late.

New vegas requires mods to get it to be at least playable because of the issues on PC, it was covered as a "fallout in 2022" review by tubers. Even for free, I simply don't care about games like that.
