The uncovered meat is the problem, he went on to say.

"If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred," he added.

Sheikh Hilali also condemned women who swayed suggestively and wore make-up, implying they attracted sexual assault.

"Then you get a judge without mercy... and gives you 65 years," he added.

Please re-read the above quote and give your interpretation. After that can you please check out the link. I dont want the news source to affect anyone's opinnion hence why i quoted exactly what he said.

Now compare this to what the pope said.

There are also plenty of Judges etc who have, over the years, come out with statements blaming the victim - yawn.

I don't think he realises that you can actually look at a woman who's put a bit of effort into the way she's dressed without molesting her.

Off course but then they dont come with things as stupid as what this guy said. Let me give you my intepretation - If you are woman, put on make up and dont cover your head. If you get raped it is your fault!

Now i dont know what judge will be stupid enough to say such things. If you disagree, i will be forced to ask you to cite an example.

Let's not forget this is coming from a "Supposed man of god" and on comparison to what the pope said, this is way off scale and i aint see no demostration or non-muslim people going all haywire. Also not all muslim women cover their heads too so in effect it is cool to rape a muslim woman innit!

Please stop media bashing, the media isn't pointing a gun at your head and saying "you must believe this", you shouldn't blame mass opinion on selective information... obviously it is a way of discrediting that opinion, but in this case you have no proof or grounds to suggest that the media are controlling opinion

If a man is more attracted to a woman he'll be more likely to rape her than one he isn't attracted to. The guy has a point.

Based on the analogy used by the imam, the logical answer would be the person at fault is the one that left out the meat in the first place.

In other words keep your missus locked up and she'll be safe from attack.

Basically. But that's just not how things work, women have freedom, it just happens that some of their freedoms (e.g. going out looking nice) may get them into problems (e.g. raped).

I don't speak for rapists, but I can see why they'd go for one person but not another. If you're taking something by force, why not take something you really want e.g. the more attractive woman? No way am I suggesting this is right btw.

Men get raped in prison because men have sexual urges. Old ladies get raped because they're usually very vulnerable.

Indeed.

To those arguing that advising women to cover up is an assault on their freedoms and giving in to the rapists who are the problem, ask yourself this:

Do you deliberately avoid known dodgy areas and take a longer route when walking home from a night out to avoid being the subject of violence or mugging?

If so, are you not taking the exact same nature of advice as the imam is giving to women to avoid them coming into problems.

I suppose the logic behind it is it's all very well comforting a rape victim with the words, "well, at least your freedom's intact!"

Interesting analogy methinks.

Its not as clear as black and white.

Its always dependant on that individual situation.
