eSATA Enclosure

Going to buy a 500Gb 7200.10 but not sure which enclosure to buy. Need one that does eSATA but also comes with a PCI bracket, and needs to have USB2.0 for when i use on other computers. Was looking at Coolmaster RSX-3SB but not many supply it, any others as good for similar or lower price?

Bought this for my bro and put a 500GB 7200.9 in it, does the trick. Comes with a PCI bracket for the SATA connection - its not eSATA but it will do the same thing :)

I've got one of these on the way. It's a bit more than the IcyBox that fobose mentioned but you don't need to take it apart to swap from SATA to USB.
 
TBH I prefer actively cooled enclosures these days (e.g. like the Antex) - the passively cooled IcyBox and other enclosures I've got and seen actually leaves the drive inside hotter than I feel comfortable with (so it sits under a fan now when on for extended periods...) "Icy" it certainly ain't. Maybe the one RPStewart has coming is better, haven't seen that one in the flesh yet. I'd be interested to hear what the idling and working temperatures for a drive in that enclosure is.

Well it's arrived. It's a nice looking wee unit, just a shame that the power cord is a European shaver style one :mad:

Once I get round to whacking a disk in it I'll let you know how it goes.

All in it's a nice unit, it's just a shame that the eSATA port on my board doesn't seem to want to allow safe removal which is a pain...
 
That looks really cool, so much better than the pic on OCUK! Cheers for taking the time to take the pics :)
 
Tight budget so brought an Iomega 500Gb external (Which has a Segate 7200.10 in). At a later date could i buy an enclosure and put the drive in that?
 
There is no guarantee that the drive inside the Iomega unit is a SATA model, if it isn't you're stuck with USB2.
