Esata external hard drive

I have a western digital my book esata external drive. I'm haveing problems with connectivity as when i get into the desktop and go into my computer the my book is there and when i click on it the drive start clicking and then my computer freezes. sometimes if i wait 10 seconds it will let me read the files on it but other times it disappears from my computer and in device manager. This happened when i brought a seagate esata ext drive but i sent that thinking it was faulty. Its not the hard drive itself as i took it out the caddy and connected it inside via sata and it works no problems.

however if its the drive clicking its the drive,, ive had loads of esata and ndas usb and once they click/clack get em back under warranty..
