Just bought a Akasa Integral P2 Drive enclosure, have a Gigabyte GA965PDS4 mobo with no onboard eSATA connection so am using the following config: P2 Drive with supplied eSATA cable connected to the eSATA port of an Akasa Multiport 3.5" Drive Bay which in turn has a SATA cable coming out the back plugged into my motherboard. AHCI is not enabled so i am not trying to hot swap. The drive is connected and powered on before switching on my computer. BIOS takes an age to load but the drive is not detected.

Anyone know what the problem is? and how to fix it?

I heard about that problem, but at both ends the plastic caseing on the plug isn't in contact with the socket so i don't think thats the problem

Your motherboard has 2 different SATA controllers, have you checked that the one which the eSATA adapter is enabled in the main BIOS?
