If they're not rooted and concerned about data usage, get them to install Onavo. I remember it being quite user friendly :p

Pulse - excellent news reader - even better on a tablet!

It is a great news reader! But a bit late to the party, eh? :p

Don't think pulse news has been mentioned in this thread before

Probably the best news app there is IMO, combine all the feeds into 1 app, very nice UI and plus it is very quick and smooth now compared to what it was like a few months ago :D

I've ended up using feedly + read it later for my RSS feeds, both have desktop counterparts too so it's easy jumping between phone and PC.

Okay,

I used Navfree after work yesterday and again this morning on the way to work.

My observations are:

* This morning my commute took 26minutes. Navfree consumed 10 minutes of CPU time during this period.
I unplugged my phone almost exactly an hour before this so for those 26 minutes, Navfree used up 32% of battery and I was left with 88% battery level when I got into work.
This is from a full charge so using the above, I should be able to navigate for probably up to 3 hours which isn't as power efficient as Google Navigation. This is on a Galaxy SII with extended battery so normal battery users will see even less!

* The voice actually does say junction numbers on some junctions but not all, it doesn't say names though.

* It seemed accurate enough even if the map update wasn't buttery smooth.

* Voice volume is high even at 70%, you won't have any trouble hearing it with music on and it's very clear as well. The voice is not robotic and is rather easy to understand. It's not as nice as IVONA but it's as good as a modern Garmin or TomTom IMO.

* The detour function and route options seem quite good.

* Speeding warnings did not work for me, not that I'm complaining :p

* Recalculation happens instantly.

Quite a few of the features I like, it isn't as polished as Google Nav but it has some unique features for being free too so I think I'll spend some more road time with it when I travel to London this weekend and will probably end up keeping it installed as a secondary navigator...but only with a charger socket connected!

Can anyone recommend a good shift work planner. I've tried a few out this morning and found them all a bit clunky to use. I work a pattern of 5 on 3 off, 5 on 3 off, 5 on 4 off. Also what browser is best. I'm using the standard nexus one at the moment.

Yarp!...

Good to hear its not a total bust for you! :)

It's (for me) a very good Nav Program... especially as its Free!!.. Okay, it's not perfect, but if (like me) you only have a 500Mb data plan (or less) its great as it doesn't use my data!..

I used it about two weeks ago to get me from Thatcham to the HMV Forum in Kentish Town and (apart from the GPS disconnecting at a very inopportune time, but I blame the high buildings for that!) it got us to the Presidents of the United States of America gig with time to spare!!

Plus if you want to go over to Europe (and beyond) the fact the maps are free is a mahoosive plus for me!! :D

Dolphin HD is a great browser.

I prefer Boat Browser... works a little quicker than Dolphin for me! :)

It won't show on your phone if its not compatible!! and on the Website it will show a yellow box saying "This app is not compatible with your XXXXX"

I've had this a few times, just wait a week or so and it might pop up!! :)

You were expecting a review?

You swipe a running man left/right, up and down. That's it.
