Essential Android Apps

Apex has really gone down the drain with the last few updates :(

- when you scroll on the homescreen, you get glitches in the widgets
- scrolling back in the app drawer is laggy
- the theme packs don't apply the icons properly i.e. gallery doesn't get themed and the 2 calendar apps get the same icon.......

Amongst other wee things.

So been using nova for a while instead and will continue to do so till apex gets fixed. Just wish the guy would add infinite scrolling in the app drawer and add an option to keep nova in memory.

Really loving the new 4.2 keyboard and swype gesture, although miss the cursor keys. I just remembered that the HTC keyboard has the swype gesture too, so will be using it for a while to see how it compares.

Anyone recommend any good icon sets, which would look good with this setup:

Tried lucid and ghaskart or however it is spelled :p but find them a wee bit dull, want something with a bit of colour, but not too distracting from the rest of the screen.

What weather widget is that?

Anyone know of an alternative to Boyondpod for podcasts? I need to get feeds from subscription podcasts which means entering username and password and for this reason, pocket casts isn't suitable.

i use beyondpod to add the feeds of podcasts i pay for, IE needing to add a username and password, and it works fine.

I'm using Beyondpod at the moment. Although it's feature rich, I quite like the simple GUI of Pocket Casts, especially the Now Playing screen. This is why I'm asking if there's a good alternative to Beyondpod that supports feeds that require authentication.

Guys I use Chrome on my nexus 7 and on my pc. I have plenty of saved passwords and bookmarks etc on my pc.

Now all my bookmarks etc are all on my nexus but on every site I have to renter my username and password. Is this normal?

But surely the passwords are just saved with your Google account?
I can go on my desktop or laptop and it will load my bookmarks and passwords why not Chrome on my Nexus 7?

Seems a little odd why they have left this option out tbh.

nope, passwords stored locally, hence if you clear your history in your browser and tick the "clear saved passwords" they are no longer stored...

Anybody know of a free running sort of game - I saw someone playing it on the train today, and before I could ask him what it was he got off the train. It looked a little like mirror's edge sort of game play.

haha - thanks so much for the effort and help - but it was quite high quality 3D graphics, and the character was running along roof tops etc...

I should have just asked him. It looked like a merge between Canabalt HD and Temple run.
