Nah new one looks much better IMO, esp on screen. EDIT - Now missing the punctuation on long press?? They should have kept that.

Still prefer Swiftkey though - better next word prediction for me.

I just think it's a shame anyone would limit themselves like that. I'm not much of a HTC fan after the joke that was the Desire HD and Desire Z, but I would always give them another chance if they produced something decent.

Limit myself by not buying Samsung? Plenty of other phone companies out there.

Yes there are, but it's a limitation and my point stands. You're happy so not a problem, just saying I myself wouldn't cut out one of the bigger (better in my opinion of course) companies is all.

What was wrong the Desire HD? It's showing its age a little now for everyday use but I had no real issues going back to it for a fortnight when my Note 2 bit the dust recently (running JB). I used it happily for around 2 years and was rather well-reviewed at the time (hence my buying it in the first place over the competition).
Just curious :)

For one I found the build quality very poor (and no, I don't think Samsung's build quality is poor. They use plastic, but it all fits together very well). For example, numerous times I took it out of my pocket and the small battery cover had come off and was still in my pocket.

I seem to remember it creaking and groaning a lot if you flexed it at all, so not put together so great.

I've never had to hack and fiddle to get half decent battery life as much as I did with the HD.

Tbh now it's such a long time ago, I can't remember more issues. Mainly the build quality though, software can usually be 'fixed' or replaced quite easily.

That is fine everyone has their own choices:)

I'd rather not support them personally, Don't get me wrong the S2 was a brilliant phone. But I haven't been impressed with their offerings since & I'm the type of person that will take the underdog offerings.

If everyone chose Samsung it would be a bad thing for Android imo.

You spelt "good" wrong :p

TBH Samsung aren't all roses and rainbows. They have their quirks, as do other makers. Just others have worse things than Samsung and for me the Note 3 is the closest device to the S2 to date in terms of solid feel, weight and slim profile as well as bezel.

Fair enough. The battery cover I do note as being flimsy but it never came off unintendedly for me. The phone itself feels less plasticky and sturdier than the Note 2 (current phone). Battery - probably a personal thing but only sometimes had issues. Note 2 is much better but it's renowned for its battery life. The Desire HD was actually one of the better options for battery life at the time IIRC (certainly better than the Desire, which I never owned).

Anyway, current phone build quality etc is more important now than near-obselete phones :)
