Essential Android Apps

Can anybody suggest a light-weight app that will let me change the shortcuts on the dock at the bottom of my homescreen?

I had LauncherPro installed which did the trick but it ran a bit sluggish on my lil' Pulse whenever I returned to the homescreen, so I removed it. It's a shame because I loved how customisable it was.

I use Go Launcher :) loads of themes for it and looks very nice :)

No that's not it. It looks like this..

Thanks, I've downloaded it and running it now.

It's bit more overkill than I wanted, however it does seem to run a bit better on my phone compared to LauncherPro.

It'll do for now until I can find the perfect app. :)

Ive just realised nobody mentions Feedly for Android, which along with Spotify and Tweetdeck are my 3 essential mobile apps

Apps i find useful:

Pocket - Secure storage for passwords and pins etc
Runkeeper - Keeps track of your fitness activities
Parcels - Keeps track of your deliverys
Dropbox - Easily send files to any computer you have synced with your Dropbox account.
PowerAmp - Awesome audio player
Amex UK - Keep track of the balance of your amex cards and make payments.
Your Orange - See how much of your allowance you have used on the Orange account.
Movies - See what movies are playing in your local cinema.
Transdroid - Monitor and add torrents to your home pc.
Spiceworks - Monitor the status of your home PC.
Screen Filter - When the lowest brightness on your screen is too bright use this.

GO apps are awesome, using GO Launcher with blackglass theme atm.

Also GO Weather widget with HTC theme and GO SMS.

GO Calendar also looks pretty good, must try it out some time.

Yup, a lot better than adw ex, maybe not as quick, but the app drawer with folders is awesome :D and just the overall polished UI throughout the launcher is great, Fede seriously needs to get the full rewritten LPP done and released now or even just add a fully customizable app drawer and/or even add a few more widgets as it has been falling behind quite a bit in the last few months compared to go launcher, ADW launcher etc.

The only thing, which is better about it at the minute is the built in widgets (which GO launcher now has) and the smoothness (but it is irrelevant in some ways as the difference between it and go etc. isn't big enough to notice with day to day usage)

I have been trying out go weather recently but it always just keeps FC or not responding after a while and I really like it as well :(, plus it is still quite slow overall, think it is due to the kernel that I am on at the minute though.

Reminds me a lot of HTC sense V3.0 in the full screen weather window, but this was released long before HTC showed sense V3.0 UI and plus the widget is just a direct copy of the LG one :p

Wish they would add geo location and plus remove the startup screen.

Loving MIUI at the moment, has some nice built in apps, I recommend all try it if you fancy a change. I'm on an SGS, but it's available on quite a few devices.

Getting bored of Drag Racing, it's becoming a bit of a, wait for it, drag! Takes too long to save, you buy a more expensive car and you're going slower than before etc etc. What's the next awesome game to play then? Any suggestions?

Also, who has tried all the tower defence games? Is there a clear winner?

I like GoLauncher for its features, and the organisation/built-in task manager that I use to kill apps when I absolutely have to, but its performance does leave something to be desired at times. That doesn't mean I'm going to drop it though, I still think it works well.

If you are having poor performance when receiving/sending texts, chompSMS is your best bet, in a different league to any of the other SMS apps.

Finally, for those who use Dolphin, try the latest 5.0.6 Beta...I was using Opera before only because I found Dolphin completely unusable due to terribile performance, but now it is nearly as fast, but with none of the drawbacks of Opera (slightly bizzare page rendering at times, etc).

im running Miui on my X10, its brilliant tbh, extremely smooth, and looks lovely, i love being able to uninstall an app by dragging it to the delete bar and hitting uninstall, and killing tasks by holding the back key.

Plume, used to have twydroid but plume is much better and looks nicer to.
